Historic town with plenty of independent shops, a saturday market, Bridge End Gardens and Fry art gallery around the corner from the hotel.
St Marys church the largest Parish church in Essex.
Audley End House a 5 minute drive away.

Fabulous old pub in historic Saffron Walden.
Car park was a 5 minute walk away and payable but not a problem for us.
Friendly staff and welcoming.
We slept very well but unfortunately didn’t get to sample the included breakfast due to an early flight!

Picuresque. looks like somkething out of a novel
We stayed at the crossed Keys in town- there is no parking on site which they make very clear. Walking distance to a paid car park.
Ate at fabulous pub called the eight bells - great food and service.
Very cute town to walk around - not very big but steeped in history.
Really worth a visit

People are friendly and the Saturday market day is a real treat. Easy to walk around although a lot of moving traffic in the centre.
We found food in restauants was hit and miss with Google reviews definitely over rating Meze and Goat+Grass. Eight Bells did a very good Sunday lunch.

Saffron Walden is a lovely little old town.
Saffron Walden is a lovely little old town. There are things to see there and in the immediate area, e.g. Audley End House and a splendid Parish Church. The town is also close to the motorway and Stansted Airport, so easy to get to.

A pretty village which has benefitted from traffic free...
A pretty village which has benefitted from traffic free areas and one-way streets. Parking not an issue if you are prepared to walk a little way into the centre. At least, it does stop cars parking along streets which are too narrow to accommodate them.
Nice to see a wide range of independent shops and not just the usual range.

It’s a really welcoming and beautiful cottage. Impeccably clean. Fantastic shower room and kitchen . It’s a peaceful location and was able to enjoy some walks straight from the property and Audley End house. A short drive or walk into Saffron Walden depending on what you’d prefer. We were able to bring our dog and had a lovely secure garden too. We shall recommend to friends and family and will definitely be back as it was perfect for us to use as a base to visit family.
