Enjoyed the location, completely out the way situated on the A68, no noise in the room and although the bed creaked, had the best 3 nights sleep in such a long time. Bar / Cafe below the room with really nice owners which gave a very warm welcome and easy to talk to, had a couple of beers with them and was left in awe of how much they have achieved!

Excellent host, nothing was too much trouble.. House was scrupulously clean with many thoughtful unexpected extras. Every effort had been made to meet our dietary needs and the food hamper which was very much appreciated. Good selection of tourist information, places to dine and the books provided on local history were very interesting. All together, we had an exceptionally great break. We would have liked to extend our stay. Look forward to returning again in the future. Thank you Erica and Jason's for your hospitality and kindness. We felt that we arrived as strangers but left as friends.

Homely with absolutely everything you could need. A friendly, welcoming host. A delicious breakfast with everything locally sourced, even home-made bread. As far away as possible from corporate accommodation. Our second visit and hopefully won’t be our last. We loved it.

A really great property. Although in a built up area, it was very quiet with easy access to lovely walks but also only about a 5 min walk to restaurants and shops. The property was very clean and well prepared - everything I needed in the kitchen, easy access and a very responsive and helpful host.

Satley is a small, well-kept village within easy reach of plenty of cultural activity and less than an hour from the coast. We'll definitely stay longer next time, to make the most of the area. Nearby Lanchester has a couple of village shops and a pub, Consett has a decent restaurant called Soami's Trio with good food and friendly staff. It also has several supermarkets. The seaside at Seaham has lots of rock pools on the beach, which is also known for sea-glass finds. There are nice cafés and restaurants, with a good fish and chip shop. Look out for their food festival in August and their very good retail outlet nearby, Dalton Park, for shopping. Durham is gorgeous and there's plenty of history, and it's also worth a visit to the Auckland Project for museums, history and galleries, as well as the fantastic Kynren show (not to be missed!). The open air museum, Beamish is great to visit as well.

The reason for our stay was to take part in the Great North Run in Newcastle. It was easy to get by car to the Felling Metro station—about a 40-minute drive—and from there just 15 minutes to the city centre. If the run hadn’t been on the day before school, we would have stayed longer.

Satley was a lovely quiet well kept village.

Satley was a lovely quiet well kept village. No shops or pub but near Lanchester which had plenty of amenities and about 20-30 minutes to Durham. Waking up to see sheep grazing in the fields opposite the house was magical. Everyone was very friendly and there were some nice footpaths with good dog walks and great countryside views

Satley is a quiet village amidst some truly beautiful countryside. Walks are possible from the house or a short drive will take you to some magnificent scenery up high with great views for miles. It’s easy to get from Satley to other locations as it is close to good road network. Durham is a really interesting city to visit, with an impressive cathedral and riverside walk. Similarly Newcastle and the east coast only approximately 25 miles away.
