Great to find a good independant hotel these days, so few are left with the chains having taken over much of the sector. The Corbett arms was a refreshing change, the room was very clean, tidy, modern, well appointed and spacious, the staff were all very helpful and the food was very nice and reaosnably priced. Location by the riverside is very nice, with a car park, we did not venture into town as only staying one night on our way somewhere else and arrived quite late, but I think the town is within walking distance. Seemed popular with locals for food / drink which is always a good sign.

This is a hotel full of character in a fantastic location. Parking was off site, but only a short walk away. There was plenty of choice at breakfast. I had previously read the book about how the staff cared for the homeless during Covid, so was keen to see the hotel for myself. I would highly recommend staying at the Prince Rupert Hotel.

Lots of very interesting and beautiful architecture.

Lots of very interesting and beautiful architecture. Great shops and restaurants. Not so good around the station area where there seem to be a lot of errant youths. Museum great to visit and don't miss the Quarry and Dingle in the park.

Attractive old town, but quite hilly for anyone with mobility problems. I followed the riverside path to avoid the steep climb from the hotel to the centre. A trip on the river was a pleasant interlude.

We stayed at the Prince Rupert Hotel which was in a central location, near the train station and close to all amenities. We visited the castle and dingles and had a guided tour of the prison. We also went on a boat trip. Food - I can highly recommend the Peach Tree and Exchange for food and the Bull Inn for food and drinks - it also has a lovely beer garden.

Plenty of restaurants to choose from, access vis park and ride is easy cheap and runs regularly, We did no spend enough time exploring because it was extremely hot weather. This is a good jumping off point for lots of history based visits to nearby property that comprises the Welsh Marches and border country

We have stayed in numerous hotels in Shrewsbury over the years but the Lion & Pheasant has to rank as one of the best. The hotel is modern, inviting and friendly. Our room (145 studio) was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. A large ensuite shower and a small kitchenette made it very practical. The hotel is also very clean and modern. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with a good selection. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Would definitely stay again.

This is a rustic ramshackle property so its features will never match those a modern sterile hotel room, thank goodness. We travelled to Shrewsbury to enjoy its historic buildings, so this accommodation was quite fitting. Staff members were helpful and efficient. Nice breakfast served.
