Really enjoyed our peaceful stay here. Lovely location right beside Loch Fyne. Staff were most friendly and helpful and breakfast and evening meals were all excellent. Look out for dolphins and seals in the loch - just sorry we slept through the Northern Lights.

Breakfast was delicious. Cold starters (yogurt with fruit) and pastries on buffet table then hot breakfast to order. Live entertainment in the bar on Friday was fabulous. Dinner was delicious and then we stayed to watch Starsky perform until the bar closed.

I Had to go to the local Medical Centre iN Strachur.

I Had to go to the local Medical Centre iN Strachur. What wonderful staff. I was seen fairly quickly, given medication and the Doctor even got me a glass of water so I could take the first tablet. I was offered tea/coffee and biscuits...never had that before. cannot praise them enough. Strachur is pleasant place if you enjoy the outdoors. Some nice hotels to eat in and dog friendly too. Dunoon seems to be the main town where there are supermarkets and some take aways. We were unlucky with the weather and if the weather had been good it would have been a totally different holiday.

Main place I visited was Benmore Botanical Gardens - lots to explore and the rhododendrons and azaleas in May are spectacular. No cafe now sadly but a short trip away in Blairmore there is a cafe run by the lady who used to run the cafe at Benmore - didn't manage to visit it this time but was recommended to me. I stayed at the Creggans Inn and mainly ate there - excellent place to stay or visit for a meal - food was superb and a good base for exploring the area. Roads well maintained and easy to get round - visited Inverary Castle on the other side of the loch. Again superb gardens and the castle itself is stunning well worth visiting. The town itself also very picturesque. On the way to Inverary there is the Loch Fyne Restaurant and Tree shop garden centre and cafe - well worth a visit and picked up some beautiful rhododendrons at the tree shop. Nearby there is also a local farm brewery Fyne Ales - it has a shop and taproom where you can sample their ales and buy them or have a coffee and cake ! The weather was a bit patchy - usually it is fine in May but nonetheless a superb place to visit.

Beautiful hotel and we loved the fact that it had lounges to sit in after dinner. The upstairs lounge was fantastic with a huge window looking over Loch Fyne through which we could watch the sunset. The service and friendliness of the staff, especially Jill, was second to none, she went out of her way to help us. We were walking the Cowal Way and after 30 kilometres of walking in the heat, having a beer outside the hotel on the shores of Loch Fyne was bliss. The dinner and the breakfast were both excellent
