Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had! Good choice of items, well presented and freshly cooked. Liked the fact that you pre ordered the night before and gave a time for breakfast to staff. Kitchen staff were very friendly - open plan kitchen so we were able to see staff hard at work.

I have relatives in the village so the hotel was a perfect location but I drove 285 miles , knew where I was going, unfortunately didn't feel very welcome. The village is beautiful, several places of interest can be visited from there.

Wark is a small village, people are very friendly, it has a pub, a shop, a coffee shop and a hotel, it is quite rural with plenty of walking opportunities. We travelled by car to Alnwick and visited the castle and the historic town then down the coast road to Amble a lovely seaside town.

Wark is a very good location for other places to visit within the area - such as Hexham, Bellingham, Otterburn, Kielder Water etc. Although there is the Battlesteads Hotel & restaurant & Dark Sky Observatory within walking distance (from apartments at The Black).

Lovely hotel with an observatory!

Lovely hotel with an observatory! We ate at the hotel and the food was very good and very reasonable ( venison bourginion with mash and veg £17.90). The wine list was very good. There are walks around the river and to near by villages. The people were very welcoming. It was full of wildlife: woodpeckers, mattins, squirrels etc.

Home from home lovely and peaceful setting. Lovely welcome basket left by owners. Enjoyed the short walk into the village. Cafe 1897 10/10 lovely lunch. Lovely walks to explore. Local shop was good for essentials. We visited The Grey Bull inn we were made to feel welcomed. There is also The Battlestead hotel and restaurant that unfortunately we didn't visit. Would definitely stay again.

A nice spacious little cottage which provided a great base for our adventures which included Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Forest and the Nothumberland coast. Wark, where the cottage is situated, is a charming village where the people we met were friendly and welcoming.
