Such a cozy place to relax after a day exploring along Hadrian's Wall. Mike and Lorna are fantastic hosts, and The Side has everything you need to be comfortable and enjoy your holiday. Loved the very peaceful location. Away from any town hustle and noise but still close to Hadrian's Wall sites and many great pubs for dinner. Carolyn provided a warm welcome and wonderful breakfast. Large comfortable room.

This is a quant bed/breakfast/tavern. We had a great dinner and drinks when we arrived and breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and excellent. The room was charming. You have the climb the stairs to get around this historic building, but the rooms were nice. The location is right in the middle of this historic town of Hexham. It was a great spot to stay when touring Hadrian's wall.

The large church was a joy to see and so very well supported...

The large church was a joy to see and so very well supported and used by different groups of people. Parts of which dated back to the 12th century. The park is a lovely walk. There are also plenty of eateries and shops if that's what your looking for.

A charming town oozing with history and fantastic historical...

A charming town oozing with history and fantastic historical architecture. Free car parking with a cafe on the car parking grounds. There is an abunance of a variety of shops and good to see a couple of high street butchers still trading, not many of these left today The abbey is a must to visit and can be free or the option to submit a donation. Hexham is well worth a visit and plenty of pubs to choose from too.

Hexham is a lovely, ancient market town on the banks of the River Tyne in southern Northumberland. The design and layout of the town revolves around the beautiful Hexham Abbey. Its wonderful exploring inside the abbey.

Hexham is a pleasant old town with an interesting abbey, green spaces and a range of shops and csfes in the walkable centre. A good base for visits in rural Northumberland. Good food and bar at the Beaumont. Hotel.

It is a beautiful area and the people are generally very friendly. The transport network is good and makes getting around to the variety of activities on offer easy with or without a car - I have previously visited by train and anywhere from Newcastle to Carlisle and beyond is no problem. Do try the Settle to Carlisle line ! Hadrian's Wall is easier with a car but there are other means of getting to it. If you happen to like horse racing then a visit to Hexham is highly recommended.
