Years ago in the early 60's it was a lovely old town with interesting buildings and a vibrant feel. Late 60's on, they demolished all the characterful buildings and built concrete blocks. More recently as with most other towns, all the shops in the centre closed and they built big box shops out of town, leaving little in the centre. They are doing their best to rejuvenate the centre, but it is unlikely many shops will come back. Locals say that as part of Havant Borough, it was Havant that got all the investment. Today, my old home town is pretty sad with little to commend it unless you want fast food or Wetherspoons, though the Old Heroes pub is still open and has great music on many nights.

I just wouldn't stay in the town centre as a destination, but for a stopover it was OK. A rather sad town like so many others with empty shops, and not much other than take-aways, hairdressers and nail bars. Years ago it was a nice old town, but now out of town big stores and internet shopping have killed the place. They have through smartened up the Wellington Way, with flats above the (mostly empty) shop units.

Waterlooville itself is not a particularly exciting or attractive place but the accommodation for someone wanting to stop in a reasonably priced venue within striking distance of Chichester won’t find anywhere much better.

Waterlooville unfortunately has gone downhill, when I lived there in the fifties it was the most beautiful village but now well! , I moved from there three years ago and it still is awful not much change. Sorry for the review but I have to be truthful.

Good location for access into Portsmouth and visiting local attractions the town itself doesn't have much appeal but its convenient for M27 and A3M and has some nice food outlets and out of town shopping. Lots of historic places within 20 minute drive and great views of Portsmouth and Meon Valley from portsdown Hill x The George on portsdown Hill has amazing food and great selection of beer and is lovely and cosy . Recommend steak and kidney pudding and ham/egg/chips . Portsmouth historic dockyard and spinnaker Tower is a must see and the Forts are really interesting. Book buffs may also enjoy Chawton where you'll find Jane Austen museum

Waterlooville used to be a good town to visit, but we did have relatives that lived nearby, so that was our primary reason for visiting. Over the years we have noticed the number of shops that are closing down, but it is simple to get to Portsmouth or Gunwharf Keys
