Winscombe is a charming village that offers a perfect blend of countryside calm and family‑friendly activities. During our three‑night stay, we found it to be an excellent base for exploring the wider Somerset area, with plenty to keep both children and dogs happy.
The village itself is peaceful, with easy access to forests, walking trails, and open spaces. Rowberrow Warren and Sandford Woods were standout spots — ideal for relaxed dog walks and letting the kids burn off energy. The location also makes day trips incredibly convenient: Cheddar Gorge is just minutes away, and larger attractions like Puxton Park and Brean Theme Park are within short driving distance.
Local hospitality was consistently warm, and the area felt safe, clean, and welcoming. Whether you’re looking for nature, family activities, or simply a quiet break, Winscombe delivers a surprisingly rich experience for a small village.
Overall, Winscombe is a lovely destination for families, especially those travelling with dogs. It offers comfort, convenience, and plenty of memorable moments.

The Thatchers Cider tour is interesting.
The Thatchers Cider tour is interesting. Food served there is extremely good quality. There is limited parking as the village is on an extremely busy road. The Strawberry Line is interesting to walk along. Bristol Airport isn't too far from the area either.

The accommodation was cosy, warm and well maintained.
The accommodation was cosy, warm and well maintained. I was able to cook a lovely dinner for my family and there were plenty of seats for everyone to be comfortable. Two sofa’s and two chairs in a good sized living room was appreciated. The balcony gave fantastic views of the Somerset hills.
Good shower in the bathroom and comfortable bedding.
Parking on site.

Really enjoyed the lovely atmosphere, extremely helpful and friendly staff especially Will, who went above and beyond, fabulous food, super comfortable rooms and the close proximity to the airport . We visited Jeremy Clarksons , The Farmers Pub. This place was much better with great value if you are a Butcombe member. So glad we booked. Keep up the good work.

This is a great place to stay if you are heading from the South West to Bristol airport. The accommodation is comfortable and the restaurant food is excellent. Staff are very friendly & welcoming. Parking is free.

Clean and tidy, easy to reach the airport. We arrived on New Year’s Day so the restaurant was closed. However, their sister place about 1km away was open and the quality of the food was excellent.
Nice breakfast in the morning, staff couldn’t have been more facilitating….

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel room was lovely and well-equipped, with shampoo and conditioner, tea ,coffee ,water etc provided. The breakfast was exceptional. After a long walk, we decided to have supper at the hotel, and it was absolutely worth every penny. The surroundings were beautiful and relaxing. A complimentary drink was included with our room booking, which was a lovely bonus.

The Loft was in a perfect location on the outskirts of Winscombe. The setting is beautiful with incredible views and very quiet.
The hosts, Don and Sarah, were there to greet us and show us around the Loft. Everything is well equipped, very clean, spacious and comfortable.
Sarah’s delicious lemon drizzle cake was a lovely surprise!
We look forward to returning in the future.

Very comfortable 4bed semi in lovely Somerset village if Winscombe. Such a convenient location. Host ensured great communication to check in and out and resolve any problems.. would return to this venue.
