Quaint village setting with plenty to see & nice places to eat, drink & chillout. Tea rooms garden was superb. Monks was worth a visit for food. Cottages look great . Need more locals in the hosteleries. All foreign, nice people but don’t know anything about the area.

It’s a small town with easy walking along the roads and the harbor. We ate at the Wild Atlantic Lodge restaurant, had drinks in The Snug, dinner at Monks, and lunch at the Soda Parlour. The connection for the free shuttle to Cliffs of Moher and other towns is within .5 mile of the Lodge. There’s laundry facilities and and a Centro within walking distance. Live trad music can be heard in the pubs. A beautiful little town

Ballyvaughan is a great touring base to explore north Co Clare, the Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch Beach and day trips to Galway City. The excellent Monks seafood restaurant is dog-friendly. Many beaches to explore. The Centra store in the village centre managed by John has an excellent range of goods and highlights the various tastes of international visitors who rent cottages. Emphasis on local produce and an excellent range of wine.

Ballyvaughan is a lovely town.
Ballyvaughan is a lovely town. We went to a seasonal farmer's market and got some lovely art by a local artist. We wished me made a dinner reservation at Duke's but was able to get there the next day for lunch instead. We had a rental car, but ended up walking back from town which was about 15 min and used a safety vest from the lodge. The road is narrow and dark, but we got back safely. There are 2 cab/drivers in town and we were not able to reach either so make your own transportation plans. We went to the Aillwee Burren Experience and had a good time - it was raining, but they had covered areas and it was just fine. The Birds of Prey portion was just amazing, but the cave tour was also excellent.

It has great potential but over the last few years it has disimproved. It used to be much more buzzy, with many more shops and venues open. Still, it is close to so many lovely places to swim and walk. Monks was ok, we got shunted out of table as bigger group was coming in, and the food was just ok. Went to brillant old bar, O Laughlinns I think. Great, packed, lovely atmosphere, atmospheric, but nearly had a heart attach at the price of two very good whiskeys. Couldnt do this too often. Far less tourists around, I wonder why?

While a bit off the beaten path, Ballyvaughan was a very pleasant place to stay. The room (and bath) were comfortable and felt like a cozy stay in a hunting lodge. The breakfast was terrific!!
The location is in/near the Burren, so the location is good. We were on our way to Galway, so it was a good mid-way/stopping point for us.

Very comfortable and spacious accommodation within 10 minutes walk of Ballyvaughan. Breakfast was very good with an extensive selection of fruit, cold meats and cheeses to compliment the hot food selection. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. An excellent location to explore West Clare and the Burren. Hosts are friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here.

I liked that Helen's explanations made it easy for me to find the location of the hotel. A very nice landlady greeted me sincerely. Very clean and cozy room with a beautiful view from the window. Comfortable bed. Cozy, warm, comfortable. I am grateful. And I recommend the Barrymor Tween for backpackers and vacationers

The location was perfect and being in the Burren area was breathtaking! The Hotel was three star and was clean and beds very comfortable 😄 The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very polite and quick to help. Overall our stay was pleasant 😊

Beautiful house in the Irish countryside. The location is next to the lovely village of Ballyvaughan, at about 30 minutes of the famous cliffs of Moher. The beds are confortable and the breakfast is fantastic.
