United StatesThe breakfast location was great, with a view of the Kanchanjunga. (Unfortunately, it was fogged in and not visible during our stay). The food had a great variety and they menu varied every day. Plus, they made fresh dosas and omlettes.
The dinners were also excellent, varied menu during our four-day stay. We would particularly like to recognize the staff, who were ever helpful and polite. Divya and Pem deserve special mention. At our dinners, Divya was sweet and attentive to our every need and comfort. Pem was similarly very attentive to our needs, particularly, Kadha in the mornings as I had developed a cold. All in all, an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend the Taj Guras.

Love how people are so helpful & respectful here. No one cares about how you're looking or what you're wearing.Felt pretty safe as a woman in gangtok.
Taxi stands are at a convenient location from MG marg within the walking distance. Street food (food from local shops is the best) & Resturant wise, we had a few meals at Anola, which tasted excellent.
The local shop serves the best cappuccino and the burgers . The laphing was also good there. Loved the ambience.
The Hostel Mellow fellow was our stay for 3 days, you'll meet one of the best people here.
The orchidarium is a must visit for an anthofile. It felt heavenly.

If you want to experience Snow then plan Gangtok tour from...
If you want to experience Snow then plan Gangtok tour from March to May.
If you're travelling with child or OLD people then it's better to avoid North Sikkim tour.
If you are planning for Nathula then make sure to give all your documents one day before of your journey.

The scenic beauty of the mountains, winding roads, waterfalls, monasteries, and the majestic views of the Himalayas make Gangtok a perfect destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. The local cuisine, vibrant markets, and rich culture add to its charm.
My visit to Gangtok with my family was truly memorable. From the freezing temperatures near Tsomgo Lake to the serene beauty of the Teesta River, every moment was filled with joy and wonder. I would highly recommend Gangtok to anyone looking for a refreshing and unforgettable travel experience.

Always check the weather forecast before visiting—rain or snowfall can lead to major attractions like Zero Point and Nathula Pass being closed. It’s best to avoid traveling during the rainy or peak winter (snowfall) season.
Be cautious when dealing with tour agents and taxi operators. Always cross-check prices with your hotel staff or trusted locals, as some (especially non-local operators) may overcharge. If possible, try to book local Sikkimese drivers.
For Lachung/Lachen packages, be prepared for basic accommodations. Don’t rely too heavily on the photos shown by agents—they can be misleading. Food quality can also be quite average.
If you’re opting for shared tours to Lachung/Lachen, note that places like Zero Point, lakes, and certain viewpoints often cost extra (₹400–500 per person), and visits depend on group consensus—if others decline, you may miss out.
If possible, travel with family or friends and book a private cab to have better control over your itinerary.
Overall, Sikkim is a fantastic destination—just plan well and choose the right season for the best experience.
