Fantastic hotel in a prime location, no more than 20 minute walk to most sites of interest in Reykjavik. Lovely and very professional staff. Solid breakfast (great coffee and insanely delicious, warm and buttery cinnamon rolls, the best we have ever tasted) and good sauna facilities freely available to guests (priceless in winter). Beds were a dream, immaculate and very comfortable rooms. Very expensive but this is Iceland!

What Guests Said About Reykjavík:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0

Reykjavik is a very charming city when the weather is nice.

Reykjavik is a very charming city when the weather is nice. It is very compact and everything worth seeing is no more than a 20 minute walk from wherever you are. However if it is not sunny it can be very cold and windy making it hard to enjoy. Food wise everything is uber expensive and the portion sizes do not compensate for the overpriced food. The food itself is tasty but it is very hard to justify paying $40 for a cheeseburger.

There for a 1 day layover before flying back home.

There for a 1 day layover before flying back home. Nice 1 day visit to walk through the city centre. Would recommend it along with a visit to the Harpa Concert Hall and harbor just outside: Nice glass building. The Sun Voyager Steel structure is just a few minutes walking. The Phallic Museum was a fun stop to view the cafe and what was on display in the shop: Did not have time to visit the museum: Really worth stopping by. Bathrooms are geat.

Loved this walkable city!

Loved this walkable city! Lots of cute little shops and restaurants. Found a favorite spot for Vietnamese iced coffee and croissants! If you forget your meds the Island Apotek was EXTREMELY helpful in a pinch! Wish we would have done a walking tour but didn't have enough time. Would DEFINITELY come back to this city!

Reykjavik is a beautiful city.

Reykjavik is a beautiful city. Read and follow all the information concerning the weather and clothing to bring. We did and all went well. Our warmest day was 57 degrees. We got used to the overcast skies and wind. The beauty overcame any weather conditions!

Relatively poor city, streets deserted.

Relatively poor city, streets deserted. It rained most of the time. Compare to Central Europe countries like Switzerland or Austria, Reykjavik has practically nothing to offer. It was between 30 June and 02 July - therefore in the middle of summer. Lack of activities here like in Edinburgh - concerts , music players, magicians or acrobats or other entertainers.

Although small enough to get around with ease, Reykjavic is an exciting patchwork of new and old buildings containing all the facilities you would expect from a capital city - museum and art galleries, specialist shops, restaurants etc. There are a huge variety of day excursions available, making Reykjavik an excellent centre from which to explore Iceland.

We stayed in the Artisan apartments with a family of 4 adults, the location was perfect for getting around the city centre and very close to the harbour. Also very close to bus stop 6 for any day trips you want to join. The accommodation had everything you could need for your stay. It was always lovely and warm after being out in the cold all day! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel. We had a fantastic 3 day break in this beautiful city.

Hotel Local 101 was the perfect choice for a night in Reykjavik. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the city center. The building has a charming old-style exterior with a fully renovated, modern interior. The room upgrade was a pleasant surprise, and everything was stylish, clean and new. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was enjoyable. Overall, we had a great stay. Excellent price-quality ratio—highly recommended!

It's one of the cheaper accommodations in Reykjavik, so if you're on a low budget, it's probably okay. But if you can afford to pay a little more, I would recommend staying somewhere else. The location is also good — the apartment is right next to the church and you're basically in the city center.
