The black sand beaches and horses and lava show and puffins and glacier walk make this a must-see place! It's much colder and windier than the rest of the south, but if you're ready, then great! Good hot chocolate and coffee and shopping, and a nice soup restaurant near the lava show. Puffins were a definite highlight. Need a car to access everything except nearby beach and market.

This is your ideal location in between your route between Reykjavik and the east side of Iceland. It's a great little town, lots of amenities, beautiful sights and sounds nearby. You'll love every minute of it. It's a great hotel.

Getting around Vik is very easy - on foot or by car. Our favorite was the Lava Show!!! What an awesome experience! One for all ages! Thoroughly enjoyed the Soup Co. afterwards (in the same building) the Lamb Soup was delicious!!!

Having to 'get around Ring Road' definitely has its drawbacks. The biggest one we found was when you found a great place, your time there was limited. We did stop for the Lava Show in Vik, which was great, and we had dinner there as well. There was not enough time to really see everything before having to move on.

Vik is a small town on the coast mostly supporting the tourist industry. Like most of Iceland, beautiful scenery and views all around. Great launching point to national parks and stay over if going east or west.

We arrived at the Vik Myrdal on a wet and windy Icelandic afternoon ahead of the scheduled check in, the staff were very accommodated and allowed us to check in a little early as our room was ready. We stayed in a family room that had a loft for the children, which they loved. Room included tea and coffee and had a large view to the mountains. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a great variety of foods.

The hotel is fantastic given the Icelandic standards. Additionally it has a cossy design and very comfortable rooms. The size of the room is much bigger that usual and everything is very cleaned. The breakfast was very good. staff was nice and very polite. the building is close to the ring road , but you cannot hear the cars passing.

This B&B was so quaint. Like most accommodations in Iceland, the room was small but adequate. Ours came with a balcony and we could look out at the ravine below. The sitting area was very cosy and the breakfast provisions were perfect to start your day. We would definitely stay here again.
