The place was immaculate and quite big!! It functions as both facilities for a campsite next to us and for occupants of its 3 rooms. There were two other rooms next to us (we got the two person room). Other people were respectful so we didn’t hear much at all. There are two shared kitchens, clean toilets, and showers. The owners of this property were gracious and kind. They made sure we were settled after our last minute booking due to weather. The Ferry that brought us here has a different longer route during early spring/due to weather. What was estimated to be a 3 hour ferry from Thorlakhofn ended up to be 5.5 hours. We are fortunate to have come across this location. They have towels available to rent. You will need to bring shampoo/body wash/toothbrush. We didn’t have any of that but there are nearby Kronan and Bonus. Lots of restaurants nearby. Our mattress and blankets were the most comfortable of all. And of course the view from our room was splendid. Made being stranded here worth it completely!!

Beautiful, clean and modern. Close to everything, with a nice kitchen with stovetop and oven. Staff was wonderful and stored our luggage while we explored and gave us tips on things to do and places to eat. We visited in March but in the summer the patio area would be great to use!

We didn't plan to stop here but availability and affordability of hotels forced our hand. Turned out to be amazing. We should have taken our car over, although the local taxi was amazing, the driver was evacuated when she was a little girl so was telling us all about the history and what happened when the volcano erupted. The place was great for a couple of days. Loads of puffins to see, interesting museums, walks, food, etc.

We loved our night in Vestmannaeyjar!

We loved our night in Vestmannaeyjar! The ferry ride was lovely, and we enjoyed driving and walking around the island. Our favorite stops were hiking up the crater, driving out to see the puffins (bring binoculars!), and going to the local swimming pool. All of the food we had there was amazing too. Highly recommend doing a night on the island when traveling along the south coast.

The island was great.

The island was great. Learned a lot about volcanos and lava. Thora with VikingTours was superb. As a local she had answers to all our questions. Even some about the geology. And even though it was late in the season, we were able to see a bunch of Puffins. Highlight of our trip.

Puffin colony is MASSIVE.

Puffin colony is MASSIVE. If you have a car you don't need to buy any trip to go and see them as they are not hard to find. We were also hiking on the old volcano and it looked like we are on Mars. Highly recommend a bakery that is close to the harbor - delicious sandwitches with freshly made bread.

We initially went for the puffins, but were really moved by...

We initially went for the puffins, but were really moved by the story of the volcanic eruption in 1973, and by the way that the community has memorialized and integrated that life changing event. It was a terrific stop. Some people say only go in good weather - I will say that the ferry was choppy on the way there, but the island was gorgeous even in the rain. The skies cleared for us, and we got some gorgeous sunsets while watching the birds. Ferry home was smooth.

Beautiful island only a short ferry ride away. Some great walking and the birdlife fantastic. Great to see so many Puffins. The museum was very interesting and well done with audio explanation within the entry price. Also the boat experience to get you out to smaller islands was great and again with well informed guides

At the very centre of the town, close to everything, free parking right in front of the door, very cosy and kind of traditional building. All the good restaurants are around this place. For sure a nice warm sanctuary to spend your days in Heimaey.
