Breakfast was nice, I think everyone would be able to find things that they like. There were omelettes and some cooked stuff for a hot breakfast and cold cuts / jams etc. for a cold breakfast. The coffee machine makes tasty coffee too.

The Sophistication Behind Supercars

A foodie heaven, affluent Modena is also a petrolhead paradise, as Italy’s most prestigious supercars are crafted in and around the city. The three-pronged Maserati logo proudly marks their Modena headquarters, while a museum in Cittanova to the west houses vintage vehicles.

Lamborghini produce their distinctive V8s in Sant’Agata Bolognese, while the most famous of them all – Ferrari – has turned the nearby town of Maranello red. The church bells even ring every time their F1 team wins!  

Enzo Ferrari’s former home is now a Modena museum, while a theatre is named after another famous resident: Luciano Pavarotti. The most famous export is balsamic vinegar and Villa San Donnino offers wonderful tastings, and local tortellini and lambrusco are served up in pavement cafes and bars.

UNESCO World Heritage-listed Piazza Grande is a cobbled square part-lined with the porticoed town hall. Opposite is the 12th-century, white-marble cathedral which is overlooked by the Ghirlandina belltower.

A few streets away, stately Palazzo Ducale is home to the Italian Military Academy, but was once inhabited by the powerful Este family after they fled Ferrara. Lovely city, shame we only had a day there.

Lovely city, shame we only had a day there. It was so quiet and untouristy, possibly because it was so hot! Very walkable with lots of attractions. Food was great and good value. Will definitely be back for a longer stay.

It is a nice small city where food experience is truly central. Vegetarian may survive but not vegetarian will feel better. I am a bit annoyed about public transportation as it stops very early in the evening and in some cases drivers do not stop a unless you are very visible when you are on the road, same when you are on the bus in case you do not ring the bell a lot in advance at extected stop. Neverthless theer are a lot fo bus and you may reach places easily

We travelled to Modena as a family purely to visit the Ferrari museums. From what we saw, apart from the old quarter and the catherdral, there really isn't much to do in Modena itself. You will need to go out of the city on day trips if you're staying any more than a couple of days.

Modena is a small town notable for its association with the motor car industry, most notably Ferrari but most of the other Italian fast car companies are there. There are museums for all of them near the town centre. Historically the main feature is the Duomo in the centre which dates from the 11th Century. There are few really interesting sights and overall it is a pretty quiet town. I used it as a centre to visit Parma as well and there was enough between the 2 to occupy 2 days and allowed me to go to Bologna on the 3rd day.

Arrive by midday and this gives sufficient time to walk the Old City and see the sights. Walk 20 minutes and visit the Ferrari Museum. Visit La Consortetia 1966 in Piazza Giuseppe for a balsamic vinegar tasting from small producers. End the day by dining at Ristorante Enoteca Ristretto for a wonderful meal with a twist on traditional recipes.

I had a fantastic stay at RMH Modena Raffaello! I loved everything about this hotel, especially the superb breakfast—there was a wide variety of high-quality products, and the cappuccino made to order by the waiters was perfect every morning. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and all the facilities felt fresh and well-maintained. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Modena!
