Beds were very warm and comfortable with lovely linen. I would 100% recommend to others and will stay again if visiting the area again. Thank you Steph !

One early anoon and night arrival was enough for us to eat lunch at hotel, visit Nugget Point lighthouse, beach walk and relax on deck as sun set but if keen to go out on long hikes another day or 2 would be an advantage. Hotel closed Mondays but food van on beachfront nearby open and cafe a short drive away.

Kaka Point is a very rocky but beautiful beach.
Kaka Point is a very rocky but beautiful beach. Plenty of seals to see. The Nugget Point lighthouse isn't far away and the walk isn't prohibitive. The cafe ("The Point") is worth it and probably the most desirable choice in the area because you are right on the beach.

I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe.
I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe. The weather turned during my short stay there, but that didn't spoil my walk out to the lighthouse at Nugget Point. It was extremely windy with very rough seas, which made me appreciate how hard shipping must have been back in the day.

Beautiful spot in the Catlins. Lovely beach and forest walk. A stones throw throw from the Nugget Point Lighthouse and Roaring Bay penguin hide. Great affordable accommodation at Nugget View Kaka Point Motel and celiac friendly dinner at The Point Restaurant and Bar.

Kaka point is a perfect base for visiting the Catlins if you have a week because then you can make day trips to the many waterfalls, beaches, lighthouses and historical sites without rushing or getting exhausted. Kaka point itself is peaceful and wildly beautiful at this time of year but you need to go prepared as there is no proper store and only one eating venue which is quite expensive.

The whole of the Catlins is a treat for locals and international travellers alike. Be captivated by the beauty of the landscape and wildlife, while soaking up the quaint, sleepy town feel of Kaka Point. New Zealand has wonderful wildlife and environmental protection laws for native flora and fauna. If you're looking for an ethical way to see animals in nature, this is the way to do it. Please respect the laws and rules about Interacting with any animals or scenery - this ensures it is a place to treasure for years to come.

We were in "Unit 1" right above the beach of Kaka Point, with great views of the shoreline. Very nice, very helpful and very friendly hosts - living in the same building above the unit. Parking available. Everything was great - location, apartment, equipment. Beds were very comfortable. Payment: Cash - no credit cards.
The one and only restaurant of Kaka Point is close by with excellent food and good choice of beverages.
Short drive to Nugget Point.

We always try to stay here when we go to Kaka Point, we have enjoyed each of our stays, the service is wonderful, the location perfect and the rooms comfortable, clean, roomy and with fabulous views. The walk up the hill is just what is needed after a wonderful meal and a couple red wines at the restaurant below.

We are a party of 5 so we booked both apartments. The apartments exceeded our expectations and the views were to die for. Lindsay the host responded quickly to any questions that we had by email. Absolutely loved our stay at Kaka point apartments and would definitely stay here again.
