Loved the guided trip to the Honeycomb Hill Caves.

Loved the guided trip to the Honeycomb Hill Caves. Drove and walked through amazing bush, beautiful trees, all DOC land. Then a walk through the amazing Honeycomb Hill Caves ending up at the Oparara Arch. Great tour guide, thank you.

Perfect. Peaceful. A slow way of life.

Perfect. Peaceful. A slow way of life. People traveling and locals especially are all friendly and have all got time to talk and not look at devices. Lots of good walks the Rock Arch was beautiful worth going to see. I recommend people go to Karamea and West Coast it is beautiful and shows the best way of life in New Zealand.

Small west coast town with huge historical attractions.

Small west coast town with huge historical attractions. The people are welcoming and super friendly. I can’t speak highly enough of Karamea Express (Phil), Vinnie’s Cafe (whitebait pattie sandwich), the Karamea Village Hotel (local ambience) and Golden Bay Air (pilot: Te Aaio, super friendly and knowledgeable). Definitely worth spending more than the 24 hours post our walk of the Heaphy Track! Will go back some day.

Just a beautiful location and base for hiking the Heaphy and Oparara Basin as well as visiting other beautiful areas nearby. Definitely worth the drive north of Westport. Miss it and you miss out on so much.

Fabulous location for doing some beautiful bush walks.

Fabulous location for doing some beautiful bush walks. The information centre was really good and ladies very helpful. The 2 highlights of our trip were the The Dutch Oven Bakery, a must visit if in Karamea the food is divine and the second would be the Oparara National Park. We opted to do the guided honeycomb cave and arch walk and it was well worth the price to see such an amazing cave system and basically untouched forest. The guide Paul was very informative and went out of his way to make the day special and memorable for us. There are also many other lovely walks such as the Fenian Cave and the Heaphy track, plus a beach that goes forever with very few people on it. We just loved our visit.

You can't get more isolated than this area.

You can't get more isolated than this area. Its special climate is experienced here. The caves are incredible. If you can make the available time, Karamea is a must on your tour list. The native bush here is out of this World.
