Due to a double booking situation I was not able to stay here so can’t rate the facilities, but the owner was exceptionally helpful getting us situated at another location, at no extra cost to us. I would stay here again since it looks like a great place to have dinner and drinks, and I am sorry it didn’t work out for us this time.

I cannot recommend this place enough. An absolute must if you are passing through. We were greeted by the two lovely bartenders in what I can only describe as an old school saloon vibe, with locals sitting outside, drinking and conversing. It truly made us feel like being part of the village. Lovely rooms, comfy beds, simple, but tasty breakfast. This is an absolute gem.

One of the most beautiful locations you can stay at. We had an amazing stay here and our cabin was terrific with a breathtaking view. Staff is very friendly and this place had all the amenities we needed. Punakaiki beach camp was also very clean and I would highly recommend it to others.

We got lucky with the weather and managed a helicopter...

We got lucky with the weather and managed a helicopter flight over the glaciers which was expensive but well worth the expense and walk around Lake Mathesson which had awesome views. We has two nights here and could have done with one more day to explore a bit more.

Some great little places to eat and the food was outstanding...

Some great little places to eat and the food was outstanding. Hats off to the Hokitika Sandwich Company, first time I tried sauerkraut and loved it. Also kudos to Thatcher and Small, had a great meal there as well. Beach is outstanding, great for a walk, even in the cold!

I visited Hokitika, It was pleasant and well planned and lively with lot of cafes by the beach. But Greymouth was sleepy, unplanned and forlorn with little activity and crowd. We stayed there because of the transalpine last stop. A suggestion is go further and stay in Hokitika.

We much prefer Fox to Franz Josef.

We much prefer Fox to Franz Josef. Quieter and more village-like. The walk up to Fox Glacier viewpoint is easy, through the wonderful bush and comes out at two amazing viewpoints where you get a great sense of the glacier and the power of the river. A must if you are staying in Fox!

A very convenient spot to stay to explore the great nature opportunities this area has. A must ( apart from the red caravan at Port Jackson) is to do the road down the Cascade. Take it slow and be blown away with what nature will deliver.

When at Punakaiki we did lots of walking, up the Pororari...

When at Punakaiki we did lots of walking, up the Pororari River, along the Truman track and of course the Pancake Rocks. It was a wonderful few days having visited more of the West Coast on the way. There is so much to do and see and we had had longer we would have done more walking within the Paparoa National Park.

It's a small but nice town; there are many places you can explore, like the museum in the iSite, the lovely church, big public park, a lighthouse, a memorial, and the city council. You can also reach several trails and a sea colony.

Reefton has renewed vigour with a spring in her step... Good eateries Pizza, Dawson's and Wilson's, The tea shop for breakfast and your take away lunch for your day trip an absolute must. Lovely wee shops, terrific art scene with great galleries constantly changing good campground with skatepark, distillery. Exceptional 4 Wheel drive tracks with a lot of past explorative history I. e Gold mining....

A great spot for a long weekend getaway, especially in summer. Lots of walks, bike trails and boat access. Lots of birdlife. Beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Family friendly restaurant. Book in advance as accommodation is limited.

Loved the guided trip to the Honeycomb Hill Caves. Drove and walked through amazing bush, beautiful trees, all DOC land. Then a walk through the amazing Honeycomb Hill Caves ending up at the Oparara Arch. Great tour guide, thank you.
