The check in is at the bar or you can go around to a proper entrance to the hotel. There were a lot of people travelling for work (trades/construction) but we were able to find a parking spot. We walked to Monteith's Brewery from the hotel and had some beers.

Has every basic convinience for a short stay: Close to the train/bus station. Electric outlet near bed. Heater ( a bit weak, but ok) Lamp at bed. And rarely seen at a budget place : Heated matress A sink ( toilet is external ) Of course all in simple, rustic form - but i stll liked it because having all that more refined would have been double or triple the price.

I visited Hokitika, It was pleasant and well planned and lively with lot of cafes by the beach. But Greymouth was sleepy, unplanned and forlorn with little activity and crowd. We stayed there because of the transalpine last stop. A suggestion is go further and stay in Hokitika.

The Pounamu Pathway in downtown Greymouth offers a look into the original settlement of the west coast by the Māori. Seven Penny, just a block away, makes an eggs Benedict that will make your taste buds want to dance, and their coffees are a treat. Best place for greenstone is Hokitika, about 30 minutes south, although you'll see it offered everywhere along the west coast. Allow plenty of time if traveling south along the west coast! We drove from Greymouth to Haast with several stops and wish we had done that distance in 2 days to allow more time to stop and soak up scenery.

Very small town - all stores are closed on Sundays. Speights Brewery (near train station, open on a Sunday) serves a good choice of beers. We did not eat there though the menu had some interesting choices.

This is just a great place to stay, a little away from town but beach is super close and there is a grocery store too. They have bikes at the hostel which you can just take and it was such a fun way to explore Greymouth. I was traveling solo and definitely nervous but this place really made me feel comfortable and safe. Would totally recommend if you're traveling in groups or solo. I loved the Africa theme of the hostel and they have great group hangout/chilling spots and the kitchen is well-equipped kept super neat by the hardowrking staff. The owners were also so nice they picked me and also dropped me to the train station.

Like most towns in New Zealand, clean and immaculate with great facilities - reached by a jaw dropping drive from Christchurch through the Trans Alpine route (Arthurs Pass) . A central base for some great drives either South to the glaciers or North to Pancake Rocks and Westport and back through Springs Junction or back to Christchurch through the Hanmer Springs scenic route.

Great spot in Greymouth. Right next to beach, easy check in & check out, spotless communal bathrooms & kitchens. The women's showers were so nice they deserve their own mention!!!! Room was well sized, perfect if you're just passing through Greymouth or on a West Coast road trip. Plenty of space for kids to run around, cool playground with bouncy mat. Secure gates, fully fenced, very safe area. Thank you Top10 Greymouth :-)

Had a lovely welcome from the host on arrival. The room was large, bright & comfortable with the biggest bed we have slept so far during our trip through New Zealand. The motel is ideally located near a supermarket and the excellent Buccleugh's Restaurant at The Recreation Hotel both of which are within easy walking distant.
