The staff was awesome. Above the local bar was great. Just walk down for a beer and close enough to walk to Lincoln University if you want. These are basic but comfortable rooms. Nothing special except price is excellent

Great location for any cricket parents, supporting their...

Great location for any cricket parents, supporting their kids playing down the road at the university (and presumably for parents visiting uni students!). The New World supermarket is large and well stocked, with friendly staff. A great range of takeaways, as well as the Flaming Rabbit, the Lab and the Famous Grouse for fantastic pub food, beer and cocktails! The Lincoln Pharmacy staff were very helpful with a prescription being sent from Wellington. A short drive to Hornby and Riccarton, and less than half an hour into Christchurch city. We had a rental car but buses seemed frequent and well used, with multiple stops on the main road. There is major work being done on the main road right now (Jan 2026) which caused a small amount of disruption but no major delays for us.

We were based mainly in Rolleston on a daily basis because the family are there and there are many great cafes, restaurants and things to do there. Lincoln is a little smaller but close to Rolleston.

Lincoln has many different eateries and a supermarket.

Lincoln has many different eateries and a supermarket. Rolleston, a very large town is a few kilometers away. Great access to the Little River Rail Trail for walkers/cyclers. Dedicated bike/walking trail from Lincoln to Rolleston. Peaceful town, well worth staying for a restful break.

It's grown a lot over the years but it's still a lovely place to visit and there are a good selection of excellent takeaway places and places to eat out. Good walks in the area and close to spots like Akaroa and Banks Peninsula.

Big enough to have things to do.

Big enough to have things to do. We saw a weekend Farmers market whilst there on the weekend. Lots of cyclists so there are obviously good trails. There are 2 cafés right beside the motel- both served excellent coffee and food. The university would have been interesting to look around.
