I got a private room and I was pleasantly surprised. It was very cute, comfortable and had a great view! And a little fridge and desk which was handy. Great for a solo traveller. Spacious kitchen and plently of space to hang out. Beautiful views from the outdoor space as well.

The check-in experience was super easy. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The views from our room were absolutely insane. Then at night we went out at 11:00 p.m. and we could clearly see the Milky Way along with several constellations and major stars. I've never seen so many stars with the naked eye before. The room was very comfortable and I wish I could have taken the bed home with me because it was that comfortable.

The hotel is well located. We love that it was surrounded by mountains. We were there when it was raining day and night but the room is comfy and cozy enough to stay in and cook.

Great amenities for a couple of days hiking or just gawping at the incredible scenery. Short family walks, half day and full day walks, challenging alpine walks and huts(book before you come). Walk early to get quiet tracks- the Hooker Valley walk is gorgeous but busy all year round so set off just before sunrise for the best experience. Walk the quieter tracks in the afternoon. Bring what provisions you need, although there are 3 or 4 places during the day & a couple of pricey but good evening options if you don't, but no shops. Tons of lunch options at the Hermitage cafe, and a great small cafe just below the visitor centre. The buffet dinner at the Hermitage is well worth the cost, enough veggie and vegan choices too. Give yourself an hour in the visitor centre, some great displays on the history of the area and the old timers that climbed themselves, and led expeditions, and tourists. Excellent people at everywhere we visited, helpful and friendly. Fabulous, i come at least once a year and twice if i can. Enjoy

There are a variety of eating places which makes up for the lack of a grocery store. There are many tour activities to participate in, at a cost, and free activities like walks and an excellent visitor centre. Best to come in a hire car and drive yourself to the various walks and sightseeing points of interest. However, the bus services from Queenstown and Christchurch are excellent and a relaxing way to travel.

Anyone planning to visit needs to book well in advance - at least 6 to 8 months. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on accommodation. Note there are no shops for food, so bring it with you. However, the walks and the views are STUNNING and we judged it to be worth it.

It's not really a village, it's a collection of lodges and the hotel. There are lots of activities for fine weather, much more difficult in poor conditions Absolutely no supermarket so take your own food

Mount Cook Village is a great location if you are planning to do some walks in the area. We did the Hooker Valley Track, Sealy Tarn Track, and the Tasman Glacier View after which we were exhausted and travelling to another location would have been a bit much. Staying at the village was the best decision. At night you can travel slightly out to get the most exceptional views of stars and in the morning you wake up to unbelievably beautiful views of mountains. If you are lucky you might just get some snow.

Great location, our room was a balcony one and had a good view. It’s linked to the heritage hotel up the top which you can get an unreal breakfast at. Expensive but worth every penny. Would stay again. Private room and escape after a long day of hiking the various hikes. Location is accessible from all local hikes too.

In Mount Cook village are no possibilities to go out at night. This is why everyone in the hostel is gathering in the community areas and as a solo traveller you get easily in touch with other travellers. Very clean, very well equipped. Even offer blankets in case you get cold.
