CanadaSpecial place. We had had a stressful bus trip to arrive, but instantly relaxed when we saw the beautiful view. Nice room, great staff, good food - the breakfast was very generous. Santa Fe is a little spread out, but you can walk to stores and restaurants. The hotel serves Cambodian food Wednesday to Sunday and it was very good.

I liked that the owner upgraded me, because there was no one...
I liked that the owner upgraded me, because there was no one there to meet me and the room had not been cleaned because the person who usually worked there had been sick for the last week.
Disliked · There was no sign by the road, I drove right past it and had to go back and trust the GPS, because there was no way of knowing I was in the right place.
I didn't like that there was no one there when I got there and the room was not cleaned and ready for me. It was however made up to me with a room upgrade.
I didn't like that they would only way to pay was cash, even though the website SPECIFICALLY said they did NOT take cash.

Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village.
Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village. We liked it for its lack of frills. There's a Danish run pizza place and a couple of coffee shops (we didn't go to either just saw them). The rest is normal Panamanian stuff, 2 mini Supermarkets and a few cafes with typical Panamanian food. There are rivers and waterfalls to bathe in but all except one would need a car (or bike) to get to. I'd say it was a one horse town except we saw 3 wandering about! The scenery is fantastic, so many different trees and so many hills. The road to the coast is finished and is lovely and smooth. There's a restaurant at the end of the road for lunch. The road from Santiago gets better as you get along it but takes 1.5 to 2 hours for the 35 miles to Santa Fe

Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama.
Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama. It's located in a valley bordered by mountains which form part of an impressive natural reserve north of the town. The town itself appears to be easy-going and quiet —save for the odd bar— but the focus of the place is elsewhere: the very diverse ecosystems that exist all around it, from river habitats to cloud forests. You can either scale bare mountains and take in breathtaking views or go deep into the jungle and see unique wildlife, and the trails go as far as you may like. The area is also known for its organic farming and the town has played an important part in the history of Panama.

When you go to Santa Fe, prepare for the hikes, the horse...
When you go to Santa Fe, prepare for the hikes, the horse riding and make sure that in Santiago you fill up the gas tank to the max (Llenó porfa). The restaurants are simple, but there is a Thai gem. Try to get lucky by staying in that hotel and enjoy the cooking that after 7,5 years in Panamá I have not found. Simple and honest Thai food is of course a joy for every 48 years old backpacker (now by 2x4 car by the way).

This has been our favourite place for our backpacking trip in Panama. We loved tiny little Santa Fe and La Quia. The hosts are lovely and very attentive. The shared outdoor areas (gardens, covered seating areas and restaurant) are beautiful and expand your options for places to hang out and relax. You can be social if you want to or enjoy your privacy. Cheap laundry on site and breakfast included are nice bonuses. The room itself was perfectly fine for the budget traveler but would disappoint someone used to more high end comforts.

The owners & their son were exceptionally helpful in recommending & providing directions for hiking, restaurants, and activities to do while in Santa Fe. I arrived thinking I had reserved a typical hotel room. Imagine my delight when I discovered that it was a stand alone, tiny house. It was refreshing to use the pool after a long hike (I showered before using the pool). The pool was always clean. The location of the hotel was within walking distance of the town center but far enough away to provide a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

Anachoreo Hotel is small, quaint and peaceful. All the rooms have a beautiful view of the mountains. The breakfast is excellent and inclusive in the room price. We had dinner every night there and it was fabulous. The personnel is so attentive of the guest needs. The morning front desk lady, Ines, was extremely helpful in organizing the activities we wanted to do. Would definitively recommend it.

Lovely peaceful spot in Santa Fe. The room was spacious with a personal fridge and sink area. Really great to have access to a pool for a soak after a long walk. The team at the lodge were really welcoming and helpful in signposting what you can do around Santa Fe. The kitchen area was well equipped with lots of space to eat and relax. Would 100% go back if I was in town again!
