The views and sunsets are spectacular! The casual restaurant/bar is perfect for returning after long days of sightseeing and having a glass of wine and salad and pasta. The staff is friendly, helpful truly a delightful place to stay.

Loved EVERYTHING about this property! The house was split into 3 separate properties. Ours had main facilities downstairs and bedroom upstairs. Bedroom had the most beautiful view. The hosts graciously moved my son’s foldaway from upstairs to a cute alcove downstairs so we all had separate sleeping areas. Although the bedroom upstairs is huge if you prefer a third bed upstairs. This property thought of every possible design detail and is our favorite ‘designed’ place ever. Beautiful and plentiful lighting, lots of outlets, automatic retractable windows and shades, heated towel rack, smooth glide drawers, etc. A/C worked great. Great water pressure too. We easily used the washer and dryer’. The dryer is an interesting set up. They had a washer and dryer rack in a little room at the bottom of the stairs. The room is essentially a ‘blow dryer’ (dont know how else to describe it) and our clothes dried very quickly. Beautiful pool and property with melon fields. Host said she sometimes drops off melons for guests. If you walk along the driveway to the end of the property there is a nice view over the cliffs. About 1 mile away is the Caloura Bar where we had an excellent dinner and enjoyed the views. Photo is of host main house looking out from bedroom window.

Everything was wonderful- and I don't normally say that. Overall, yes, are you in town by the development, sure, but the awesome breakfast, cleanliness of the rooms, comfort of the beds, and easy parking make up for it. (I just parked for free outside the entrance door- unsure if this is just off season luxury or not). The rooms have balconies and I really liked the smooth lava rock they used for it. Also the twin room mattresses were so comfortable. I also really loved the wood closet thing in the room. All the design details and cleanliness was so appreciated, and I wish all hotels were like that. I would gladly be back, wish this exact hotel was available around the usa and world actually. If I'm ever to the Azores again, I plan to use this hotel on any and all flight nights or for any other reasons just to regroup and relax. I wish I had tried their dinner, but I ate in the bar, and the breakfast and both of those were great. The staff was also really nice, and they were so particularly nice. And they spoke English (sorry for my lack of Portuguese). I really have to say I deeply appreciated the management, cleanliness, and design of this hotel, you could just tell from the front desk manager, to the trainee, to the room service/housekeeping, to the breakfast and bar staff. And I will hopefully be back!

this hotel was far from the airport or anything else for...

this hotel was far from the airport or anything else for that matter, if you had to walk so a car is a necessity, and although the hotel had amenities like restaurant (only open for breakfast with the same breakfast every day) and vending machines (which if you could find a working one was empty( best piece of advise is find a grocery store, the island living is the best but it does take some getting used to if your from North America.

Stunning location. Incredible volcanic scenery.

Stunning location. Incredible volcanic scenery. Wonderful wildlife. Great bars and eateries up the hill in Agua do Pau. Speeding Traffic in the area a major problem. Roads very dangerous, particularly after dark. Illicit drugs openly available close by if that's your thing, probably contributing to the road safety issues.
