A beautiful old town steeped in history.

A beautiful old town steeped in history. Great for a day trip or a few days stay. Eating out is very affordable. Do try the tascas (traditional bars) and make sure to get a bufinas at Bufinas do Marinho (provided you eat pork)

It was absolutely spotless.

It was absolutely spotless. We had a problem with our room door and we were immediately moved to a new room. Very quiet. A lovely big terrace off the bar area with a view of the castle. Very close to the downtown area, about a ten minute downhill walk(which of course means uphill on the way back). Beautiful pool area, which we did not use. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great value for money. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

A beautiful, mediaeval town with a castle and lots of local history. Fantastic restaurants of all kinds, the local residents are exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Don't come here for a wild time, it is several miles from a beach but you can easily get there by car or taxi, and there are no night clubs here either. Just go for the culture, countryside and the wonderful food and wine. NB>>the castle and cathedral are up a very long and steep hill with slippery, cobbled narrow roads, so consider this if you are of restricted mobility.

I liked everything about this town.

I liked everything about this town. There was a lot of lovely restaurants also. The river walk is wonderful and great to see the local people out enjoying themselves. Musaika restaurant has marvellous food and people lovely. Traditional Fado singer and musicians on Sunday nights - superb. A lovely refined heritage town. The castle is also very beautiful with lovely gardens.

Silves is a small town with a river running through it that...

Silves is a small town with a river running through it that isn't too "Touristy". There are plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and cafes. The cathederal and the Castle are worh a visit and the Medieval festival was jolly! Beaches are an easy drive away Its great if you're looking for a quieter holiday but still with enough variety of places to eat to keep you going for a week or two!

Loads of interesting history and some amazing locations to visit. Everywhere was walking distance, although some may find some of the inclines a little challenging. Ubers are plenty, cheap and the drivers are very professional and friendly. Indeed everyone there was, in my experience, friendly and welcoming and very helpful. I always felt very welcome and at ease. The restaurants and bars were great - the food and drink (especially the rose wine and port), was exceptional. Just one word of warning - the mosquitoes (certainly in April) were voracious and vicious. Take some repellant with you, along with your favourite antihistamine if you are sensitive to insect bites.

Great hotel in a fantastic location within a 5 minute walk to this beautiful historic town and lots of great walks. Very friendly staff always happy to help. Excellent standard for cleanliness in the rooms, swimming pool and Hotel. Breakfast was more than satisfactory with a variety of foods, coffees, teas and juices.

We had a great time there, close to silves but in the countryside. Ricardo is a very friendly,warm and generous host. The accomodation was lovely and we loved the setting and all the wildlife we could see from the garden. We really enjoyed spending time in the pool and relaxing by it.

Very comfortable and quiet room with a lovely view out back. Great hosts who were very helpful when I felt unwell. Nice continental breakfast with fresh fruit and fresh orange juice. Short drive to Silves or cheap Uber.
