ThailandIt’s old, dated and looks like it’s set in an industrial wasteland. Poor signage also led me to the back of the building, not the front. The day I went the lifts were both out of action so I had to carry my bags up 4 flights of stairs (32 stairs) even though my room was on the 2nd floor. The small room had no kettle, tea or coffee. (The lovely ladies at reception agreed to lend me a kettle - it was broken! Then they gave me one that worked. I bought my own tea/coffee.). This whole place gave me the impression of having been abandoned decades ago and just rediscovered.

United StatesFantastic value. Big clean private Bungalow. Food options nearby. 2 minute walk from a marijuana store, if that's your thing. Nice helpful owners. Quick cheap tuk Tuk ride to the border, arranged by hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

TurkeyThe best place in the area to stay for a couple of days. Clean rooms with a minibar stocked at shop prices. A kettle is provided for making hot drinks. Quiet air conditioning and excellent water pressure in the shower. Fantastic swimming pool. Conveniently located just a few minutes from 7-Eleven by bike and only a 1-minute walk to a small supermarket. The staff is incredibly friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

This is a great place to stay, very friendly people, has everything of big city without the hustle and bustle, many day trips from here. You can do a day trip over the Cambodian border. Some very good restaurants with western food but with a Thai influence. We drove from Bangkok, very easy to do and easy trip.

There's almost nothing in this town to see or do.
There's almost nothing in this town to see or do. Why visit this town? For three purposes:
1. To border bounce. If you're in Thailand on a short term visa, you'll need to leave and return. This city is connected to Poi Pet, Cambodia.
2. To go to the casinos. There's casinos on the other side in Poi Pet.
3. To buy unwanted Goodwill (a chain of thrift stores in the USA) clothes and goods at the extremely large border market.
Don't meet those three reasons? Then don't go to Aranyaprathet. The city, and place, itself is a typical small Thai town. There is sidewalks, electricity, running water, but there's no reason to go.

Clean and comfortable room. Shower hot with good water pressure. Bed and pillows comfortable. Good for overnight stay. Staff lovely. 10min tuk tuk ride from border crossing.
