We stayed at Mahana House for two nights and absolutely loved it. The cottage was beautiful and incredibly comfortable — the bed even had adjustable firmness settings! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and there was a laundry room where we could wash and dry our clothes for free. The cat was adorable, and for the first time, my husband changed his opinion about cats — he actually liked this one! Randy takes great care of the orchard, and the longans were delicious. We truly appreciated the peaceful surroundings — it was perfect for mindfulness and relaxation. We shared photos on Instagram, and so many of our friends are now planning to visit too! It’s about a 15-minute drive from Hilo town, so having a car is necessary — but totally worth it. This place is truly a dream stay. Highly recommended!

Location and facilities. We are a volleyball team and wanted a large room where girls could stay together. Also large living area and wrap around deck for leisure time. Girls were comfortable here and staff had plenty room too. Full kitchen facilities and dining area were ample. Easy check in and check out process. Jade and her team left us an aloha message with a nice box of chocolates. Communication with rental staff was excellent. Beautiful place for rest and relaxation! Mahalo nui

This is a super cute botique hotel with really elegant and local decor. I loved hearing the coqui frogs at night, and the view from our room looked out to lush rainforest. It was very peaceful and not too remote-- Hilo is only about a 20 minute drive down the Hawaii belt-- though you feel like you're in the middle of nature. The breakfast is simple but well thought out. Very close to 'Akaka Falls.

Location is perfect, just a few miles north of Hilo. If you want there is a great breakfast for a few dollars, but the kitchen is more then perfect for your own breakfast. The rooms are great, per 3 rooms you have a perfect and great kitchen and relaxing room. Also a jacuzzi if you need for more relaxing ;-) Around the B&B is a great landscape, with lots of animals, a view of the ocean and very relaxing environment. All in all there are not many places that can be better than this place: Thanks !

One of the most beautiful B&Bs I've had the pleasure of staying at. I will remember forever. We were in for a quick, one evening stay after getting engaged in Kona and my boyfriend (fiancé now!) and I could not have asked for a better place to celebrate 1 on 1. As PNW-ers, we love Hilo for its tropical rain. At Orchid Tree, you can look forward to: the most comfy bed (I gasped when I felt the pillows), tall ceilings with beautiful woodwork and a delightful breeze from the screen doors, and so many thoughtful, small touches. Every inch of the room was clean but it still felt homey, not sterile. Coffee, fresh fruit, and carbs in the morning, coupled with a sweet chat with Steve and fellow travelers. This B&B strikes the perfect balance of private and communal. At the end of our stay, my partner ran back in and Steve gave us a list of recs. We then proceeded in heading over to Steve's son's shaved ice shop (Aloha General Co - located at 28-1692 Old Mamalahoa Hwy, Honomu) to get one of the best desserts of our life and more caffeine. Highly recommend 'The Local' shaved ice. Could not have asked for a better stay. We hope to be back someday! For my foodies: For those who are celebrating (life or otherwise), Moon and Turtle was one of the best meals of my life and a trip to Hilo isn't complete without the fries and fry sauce at Hilo Tavern. ENJOY!

The location was great, it’s close to the centre but you’re far away that you can also enjoy the silence of the sea. I also LOVED the fact you can see sunrise from the dining room 😍😍 and everyone working there are really friendly and helpful!

Perfect for a quick one night stop- the complimentary pancakes and coffee in the morning were great! The staff was very helpful!

Beautiful, well-maintained property. We enjoyed sitting on the patio area outside our room eating the continental breakfast ,viewing the beautiful landscape and listening to the waterfall on the property. The property is very close to downtown Hilo and other tourist attractions.
