Outstanding value. Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Recently remodeled with more contemporary style than many of these older motel type properties. Comfortable bed, clean bath, easy access. Check-in was great--all via text with door code instead of the usual counter dance. Very quiet dispute proximity to the rail line. I did use earplugs, but I do that in every hotel. No breakfast, but coffee in the room and plenty of options nearby. Did I mention great value?

Homey, peaceful! This was a great bargain for everything that we got and we needed. Loved the chairs that rocked in the room and the country decor. The owners were very friendly and abiding to anything we needed! When I go to Newcastle again I will stay there.

Newcastle was chosen as it's an hour away from Mt.

Newcastle was chosen as it's an hour away from Mt. Rushmore and was our next day's stop after having many travel days. We drove from Billings Montana and this was just the right number of hours to feel rested enough to continue on to Mt. Rushmore the next morning. There are a few restaurants here and we ate at Isabella's that had great menu options. The town is small that, depending on where you stay, you could walk to town for a meal. A grocery store offers a variety of items and be sure to check the closing time as the night we were there, it closed at 8 pm.

Newcastle lacks spirit.

Newcastle lacks spirit. You can tell this small town is tired and worn out based off the gas stations and places to eat. I did enjoy where I stayed however it was an older motel (well taken care of). The town only has one "new" hotel but they make sure to take advantage of that by charging way more than a Holiday Inn. I hope this town's economy turns around and they are able to put some care back into it. Felt sad driving through it. Small towns are a tough situation but at least the locals were friendly!
