It is a town that has all the amenities you need, including...

It is a town that has all the amenities you need, including a Walmart for common items. There are beautiful hiking trails around, a river that flows through the middle of town with hot springs (even though the flow was low from an extended drought). But for fishermen, there are private lakes you can buy a permit to fish associated with with the resort, with pier and public areas to cast from if you do not have a kayak or boat. The lakes are stocked, containing trout, bass, and catfish. The fly shop we visited was excellent; I would talk with Patrick at "Let it Fly" fly shop, he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Bring your trekking poles and camel backs for hikes to Treasure Falls, Piedras Falls Trail, Four Mile Trail Falls, and others. Great place to visit, even though downtown has major road construction going on, a minor inconvenience.

A mistake to come in early May.

A mistake to come in early May. Chimney Rock, Big Meadow Reservoir, Tucker Ponds, museums, were NOT open yet. Ski Area was closed for summer too. Road Construction in the town of Pagosa Springs was very daunting. Wait a couple years for this to get better! The free hot springs along the river were awesome. The ones you pay for are great too! We did the Durango-Silverton Train excursion, it was beautiful, HIGHLY recommended. Loved eating at Rosie Pizzaria. Hiking to Piedro Falls and Treasure Falls was wonderful. Tubing, rafting, kayaking, the San Juan River should be awesome this summer.

We love Pagosa.

We love Pagosa. It is a hidden gem in the corner of Colorado. We did not enjoy the road construction that slowed evening traffic, but totally understand progress. We always stop at the Malt Shop. Our big kids loved the skiing, our little kids loved the sledding. We will be back.

Great place for visit, locals DO NOT like the tourists too...

Great place for visit, locals DO NOT like the tourists too much, witnessed a bad altercation between a motorcyclist and a lady in a Tesla. I did not hear the whole convo but at the end she yelled 'well I live here and PLEASE do NOT come back' - IMHO the motorcyclist did nothing wrong. That being said everyone was VERY kind to me and I just kind of did my thing LOL. Anyways you ARE in vacay land so prices will be adjusted accordingly. Is VERY dry, we were under a fire pre-evacuation the entire time. Scenery is GORGEOUS, I went on the highest rated hike in the area - Four Mile Falls and it was stunning. Tons of hiking and places to visit in the area, easy to get down to Georgia O'Keefe's ranch and all kinds of spas in the area. Great places to eat, yeah I really had a great time 👍

The construction.

The construction. Having been several times before, this was a bit of a downer. And now too many people. Is just the way it is. Crowded. Feels crowded. And a TON of old people. Of which I am one. But dang... felt like an assisted living enclave. Restaurants were mediocre at best. Town has lost its appeal to me. Touristy... but such is progress, if that is progress.

Very cute town, the only drawback is the construction that...

The pool, gym, hot tub facility was the highlight and only place that was clean/well maintained.
