A old town which was from the old gold days.

A old town which was from the old gold days. The Clown Motel was in the town and would be an interesting place to visit if you want haunted things to experience. The fuel prices were cheaper than Las Vegas and had a number of stations to choice from including a well stocked Loves.

It has a "Clown Motel" that, If you are into creepy things you will love! I shivered when I passed it. (not for me and I am a clown!) IMO-Tonopah is great as a stopping place, spend the night, have a meal and move on. However, I did not look into any activities while there. So there may be many things to do and see. All I did was walk up and back on the main road to get the kinks out. I stayed at the Belvada Hotel, a very historic, beautiful, and well-modernized to today's standards as far as comfort.

We were on our way home from Arizona to Oregon, we are snow birds and live in both places. We don’t want to spend a lot of money to stay during our travel but want a breakfast and feel safe as well as have our dog “child” accepted. We choose certain accommodations to our likings and this one fits our criteria. It’s great and doesn’t charge an arm and a leg. The associates are kind and helpful etc.

Others described it as post-apocalypse meets wild west ghost...

Others described it as post-apocalypse meets wild west ghost town, with more tumbleweeds than people...and we found this to be pretty accurate. There's almost nothing here (including cell signal or working EV charging stations), and what was here was dirty and run down. Our stay at the Belvada was pleasant and charming enough, but I really wish we would have just pushed through and stayed in a different town. Maybe pull over for pizza (if it's open), but keep on driving through afterward.

Beautiful restoration of a historic building.

Beautiful restoration of a historic building. Restaurant and bar are across the street at the Mizpah but not really an issue. Rooms are nice sized and well appointed. Three stays so far and it is my go-to property for my twice monthly drives from Oregon to Las Vegas. I highly recommend the property!

For stargazing, the city lights pointing SouthEast were too bright to see the Milky Way on a New Moon night. The city built a neat "Star Gazing" park but the light pollution from the city makes it useless. With regard to light pollution, the city and nearby area is not a Bortle 1 as claimed in some articles. For viewing stars on New Moon nights, go to Death Valley. From Tonopah, a trip to Goldfield was a hoot! Must see.

The building used to be a bank but was converted into a bank around 2020. The conversion was excellent - the bank vaults have been converted into little lounges. The decor for the entire hotel is very tasteful and in keeping with the style of the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was easy - around the back of the hotel in the Tonopah Convention Center car park. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Highly recommended

The TV in my room lost a fight with a previous tenant as it was damaged due to what looked like a fist. I called on it and was promptly given another room. Nice nostalgic hotel. Decor is really cool. The staff in general from the front desk to the restaurant were really nice, and the food was pretty good for the money.
