Access roads were not good, but that applies to towns all...

Access roads were not good, but that applies to towns all over South Africa. The Orange River is not far away, but the road from Lady Grey to Sterkspruit must rate as one of the worst in South Africa, and the road up to Ludins Nek pass, we were advised not to chance it,

Loved the quaint cottage setting and friendly and helpful...

Loved the quaint cottage setting and friendly and helpful host. Walking on the property in the most beautiful scenery, and swimming in the mountain river pools was delightful. Arriving in the dark, the access road was somewhat daunting but proved to be no problem.

There is not much to do in Lady Grey but if you like hiking...

There is not much to do in Lady Grey but if you like hiking and/or mountain biking it is a beautiful area to do both and would warrant and long weekend stay and we would have loved to visit the dam.

Picturesque setting and access to mountains all around. Don't miss the dam - although the road there is quite rough and probably needs a high-clearance vehicle. Turn a blind eye to the poor state of repair of the roads - another SA town with lacking municipal governance which is sad

lovely location.

lovely location. A wonderful place to spend a few days to recharge the batteries and become one with nature. Unfortunately the weather was freezing and we thought the roof would blow off but that probably added to the experience
