The Guest House is immaculate; service excellent; cleanliness also excellent and the breakfast amazing. Rick and his team go out of their way to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxed stay. I would recommend Number 46 to whoever visits and requires a place to stay in Hastings.

The Black Rock House was exactly what I needed after a long journey from New Zealand. Clean, tidy, well-equipped, spacious, and not to mention the host, Vincent, was incredibly helpful and accommodating (and cooks a great breakfast). The house isn't in the centre of Hastings, but it's a reasonable and straightforward walk into the town.

Where do I start, this was the most fabulous experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. It was like spending a night in a museum. The house is stunning inside, like walking back in time to the 1880s. I used an original Victorian toilet, Victorian shower, slept in a Victorian bed, used a Victorian toaster, I was just in my element! I felt like I was living in the 1880s. Everything was so beautiful. The breakfast was delicious as well, with beautifully prepared fruit, homemade marmalade and eggs from the chickens in the garden! The owners are currently creating a Japanese-style flat which we will be very excited to come back and stay in once finished.

Great location, great breakfast, charming hosts, very comfortable and a part of the history of the old town.

From the moment we walked in the door, we felt right at home. The staff and customer service were incredible. Our room was exactly as we hoped, so charming with a view of the gardens. The honesty bar and living room downstairs were a nice touch. The breakfast room was adorable, and the food was so delicious. House-made smoked/cured meats and homemade marmalade. We also took advantage of the lovely attached cafe. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area. Amazing.

Both breakfast and dinner were lovely. Room was amazing. Spa was just a short 1 minute walk from the hotel.
