We are Karen and Malcolm Twist. Before moving to Hastings, we spent decades running hair salons in South London, building lives centred around creativity, care and making people feel at ease. With a shared passion for hospitality and interior design, running a guest house by the sea became a natural next chapter. Today, The Laindons is all about thoughtful rooms, excellent breakfasts and making sure every guest feels completely at home. Whether you are here to explore the historic streets of Hastings Old Town, enjoy a relaxing seaside escape, or discover the wonderful restaurants on our doorstep, we hope your stay with us feels both restful and memorable.

Property info

The Laindons is a beautiful Georgian property full of history, character and original charm. With just six individually designed guest rooms spread across the first and second floors (and a very special room in the Eaves), it offers an intimate and relaxed stay in the heart of Hastings Old Town. One of the highlights of the house is our first floor breakfast room, where panoramic views stretch across the rooftops of the Old Town towards the East Hill Nature Reserve and its historic funicular railway. It is the perfect place to linger over breakfast and watch the town slowly come to life below.

Hastings Old Town is one of the most characterful parts of the Sussex coast, full of winding twittens, historic cottages and a wonderfully independent spirit. Just moments from The Laindons, you will find an excellent selection of restaurants, traditional pubs, cocktail bars, galleries, theatres and independent shops, alongside antique stores and local artisan makers. The beach is only a short stroll away, with the seafront and promenade stretching towards the iconic Hastings Pier. The nearby East Hill offers beautiful coastal walks, sweeping sea views and access to areas of outstanding natural beauty, making Hastings equally perfect for relaxed weekends, seaside escapes and longer stays exploring the Sussex coastline.
