The apartment was much more spacious than I had anticipated, it had all the comforts of home (Sue seems to have thought of everything, including providing lots of information materials about local history, services and sites), was exceedingly comfortable, clean and quiet, within a very short walking distance to the centre of town. I was greeted by Sue who provided a thorough induction to the apartment, town map and visitor recommendations. Generous breakfast and snack provisions were also provided.

Absolutely wonderful little town where time has just stopped, all the old buildings are well maintained so you get the feeling as if you travelled back in time! Quite and walkable (lots of hills though, so bear that in mind), lovely beach is just 10 minutes away by bus. Also - the best fish and chips in the U.K.! The downside of the town is that pretty much everything shuts down at 5pm or so, but I guess it's a small town thing. Definitely worth coming (2 days is perfect).

Rye is a beautiful quite village.

Rye is a beautiful quite village. It has lovely independent shops and the streets are lovely abd very oldie worldie. The streets can be difficult to walk on as its quite hilly and the cobbles are not the easiest to navigate. We went to Camber Sands and Hastings by bus, which was very easy to do.

The overall decor was lovely, warm, bright, welcoming and good standard. Food was nice, but breakfast could be a buffet and included in the price would be better. Spa was ok but separate sauna is not great for couples that who to spend time together. Friendly helpful staff are welcoming and pleasant. Overall it’s a lovely place for anyone wanting a nice relaxing break. Great facilities, pleasant rooms and nice choice of food and drink.

Charming town with good cafes and pubs, also specialist chocolate drinks cafe. Great to explore shops and visitor attractions. Camber Sands is a great beach. The Rye Harbour nature reserve was a good place to visit with the family. The fish market had excellent seafood.

Rye is such a charming town, even though we only had one night to explore it. We wandered along its cobbled streets, dipping in and out of those irresistible little shops, the kind that tempt you to buy something completely useless but utterly delightful. We managed to take in some of the stunning views and admire the beautiful mix of architecture, from Tudor to Norman to Roman. My partner is very much a church‑and‑buildings man, so he was in his element pointing out which bits belonged to which era. We also had a shuttle bus to take us out to The Cherry Barn in Peasmarsh for the wedding, and the countryside setting there was gorgeous, complete with its own vineyard. We’ll definitely need to return to Rye for a longer visit and really take it all in.

Rye is a beautiful old smugglers' town, with references to this in several places. Some of the streets are cobbled, and the town is exactly the right size to explore every corner in a day on foot. Wonderful ice creams are available in several places, superb fish and chips and plenty of other restaurants to suit every pocket. Very nice selection of bars and pubs, and lots of shops whose interesting contents make it difficult to leave Rye without at least one purchase! (I bought a lovely set of port glasses for a few pounds). Ghost walks are available but need to be booked in advance. If staying more than one day, there are lovely walks across the marsh past sheep ro Camber Castle (rather ruined), built for Henry VIII, about a mile.

The Hope Anchor is a very historic hotel located in the highest part of the wonderful town of Rye. Having a parking space available was a huge plus! The property itself is nice and full of antique charm. We also really appreciated that they ask you to select your breakfast menu the night before—as a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see great veg options. Also, the breakfast staff in the morning were very friendly! Overall, the town is stunning and the hotel is definitely recommended for a one-night stay!

We chose this property as is easy to access Camber Sands where we spent the day. The room was comfortable (whoopie) at the top of the house; although the bath was slightly small. Even though the day was very hot the fan was very good and kept the room cool. Best of all was the breakfast which was exceptional infinitely better than other establishments we have stayed at in Rye, most notably a hotel over the road. A final note to say that the staff were lovely.

We were in the outside lodges as we had a dog and we had a spacious room with comfortable bed. The shower was good with very nice shower gel and shampoo provided. The staff were lovely and the hotel accommodated a slightly earlier in so we could feed our baby. Breakfast was great. This hotel is just outside of Rye and in walking distance of The Globe Inn which is a lovely unique pub.
