This place simply exceed all expectations. The staff members, the cleanliness, the rooms, the restaurant and the cafe and all the little attentions are simply amazing. Location is perfect to reach central Tokyo and HND airport easily.

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at. The service, the food, the room and the location were top notch! We booked the room with a private onsen and we loved it! The room was very comfortable and everything was new and in very good condition! We had breakfast and dinner included, which is highly recommended and necessary since there is nothing nearby to eat. The buffet offered a very good variety and a good mix between western and oriental food. Everything was very tasty and of very good quality! Regarding the facilities, we did not try the public onsen since we had the private one in the room but it was very comfortable and with water from real hot springs! The location is very good, you can easily access everything there is to do in Hakone! (It is necessary to book a transfer with the hotel itself to get there from the main train station, since it is somewhat complicated to get there by public transport)

While the buildings themselves are beautiful and I loved the outside onsen, it was the staff who made staying here truly exceptional experience. They were like a thought - whenever I wondered where should I go next, or that I wanted to put a used plate to the side, they just appeared and helped and did exactly what was needed. We also had a tricky food restriction (gluten free) and yet they were able to accommodate us which is unheard of in Japan. Thank you to all staff for their hard work!

It was hard to find for us bussing and walking from the train station, but once we arrived, worth it!

the bathhouses were lovely. the staff were incredibly accommodating, hauling our luggage up to our room for us, telling us about the 400-year history of the ryokan, even going so far as to find us at a café nearby to give us a discount coupon. truly above and beyond. easily our favorite place we stayed during our whole month-long trip. thank you :)
