Guest Houses in Tanabe

Location for kumano kodo is great, theres some restaurants and cafes right in front of the hotel plus a supermarket. sadly they close at 5 pm so get your stuff early.

Lovely place to stay before starting the Kumano with a very kind host

Very convenient stop along the Kumano-Kodo route. We brought our own food for dinner and the host set up a nice table outside for us. Everything was very clean and the host is really nice.

Super cute little place, absolutely LOVED that I had a whole room to myself! Great location, just a couple minute walk to station, the beach, and a family mart. Super happy they had laundry machines on-site, and the host was very kind and helpful and had lots of information in English! Overall it was the perfect place to stay the night before starting the kumano kodo trail.

close to the station and value for money

Giovanni and Yutaka, the hosts and owners were very thoughtful and accommodating. We rode on his truck going to their farm where their goats are and it was super fun! The meals prepared by Giovanni, featuring his award-winning goat cheese, are very artfully prepared and served, not to mention very delicious!

The host gave us credentials for the Kumano Kodo and snacks, that was very generous. The kitchen is well equipped. I had a good night of rest.

The lady owner is very helpful & caring, eventhough she didnt speak english but she understand what i need and very thoughful.. And english song play from TV most of the time which is very good... Nice dinner, and nice breakfast which was not included in the room price actually, i dont know why she is so super duper kind..

This is an excellent private room / guest house prior to starting your Kumano Kodo. Quick walk to and from the train station / tourist agency. Plenty of restaurants abound in the near area, but make reservations! Air conditioning worked like a charm in late July with high humidity. The 2nd story balcony / porch was great for hanging my clothes out to dry.

The hostel is incredibly cozy and welcoming. The owner treats guests like close friends and family, and his attention to detail and guest comfort is truly thoughtful.

Once of the best please I stayed here in Japan. The host Haruki-san speaks Japanese and english. The dinner and breakfast are superb! The room is warm and comfy.

All the basic facilities were provided more than sufficiently. Everything from the room to bathroom to kitchen to laundry room was clean and functional. Above that, Mayumi-san's personal touches ensured that our stay in Tanabe will stand out in our memory.

This is a very nice Japanese style guest house on two floors. Our group of 5 were the only ones staying there, which was great, as we prepared to embark on walking the Kumano Kodo the next day. There's a shared kitchen, living room, along with shared toilets and showers. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated, and only a very short walk from Kii Tanabe train station. Once we found the person who checks us in, she was very nice and helpful. Excellent value.
