The staff are so kind. They make you feel welcomed like family right away. Also a very social environment — the best type of social wherein everybody just gathers together at the end of the day to share stories. The space is beautiful and designed to feel like a traditional Japanese home. It was especially great to be there in the winter, because everything felt very cozy. It was also the perfect home base to see the Snow Monkeys, because it was a situated right on the super cute train line that takes you to/from Nagano and the monkeys.

Well situated in the center of Takayama, Backpackers Jinya is within a 9-minute walk of Takayama Station and 1.6 miles of Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village.

The staff are foreigners and are extremely polite. The room we got was really big and the view!!!!! Oh my god we got the best view from our room. It was amazing! Go for it if you're going to Takayama.
