Stepping into history, ‘Welcome Stranger Cottage’ in Maryborough is set on a quiet street just minutes from the heart of Maryborough. This quaint three-bedroom miner’s cottage offers you all the comforts of home and is suitable for couples, families and social groups. With a fully-equipped kitchen, fenced backyard and off-street parking, it offers the ideal base to explore the history and cuisine of Victoria's goldfields.
The owners have chosen to live in Maryborough because of the history that surrounds the town. The long-lost towns from yesteryear dot the countryside with amazing stories of tests and hardships. Other towns leave a scar on the landscape of majestic buildings which tell stories of wealth, fame and demise. If only the walls of this delightful cottage could talk.
Maryborough is the perfect base to explore the historic goldfields region. Visit the world famous railway station, shop in the busy main street with a variety of retail outlets and eateries or head out for the day to discover the tiny towns developed in the gold rush of the 1800s. Farmers' markets are held nearby every Sunday, boutique wineries are dotted throughout the region and, of course, you can try your hand at prospecting!
