This 19th century cottage is in the heart of the Dornoch within the picturesque conservation area. The cottage continues to be tastefully decorated while retaining its quaint, cottage, original features. Visitors can relax in the cottage and enjoy the unique atmosphere that Dornoch offers or use it a base to explore the the north ,west or the heart of the Highlands. Downstairs there is a welcoming hall with a small cloakroom and a spiral staircase. There is a separate dining and sitting room. The kitchen is entered from the dining room and although small it is fully equipped with electric appliances including a larder fridge , cooker, microwave and all required cooking utensils and crockery. The washing machine is found in the covered way outside the back door. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one has a queen sized double bed and the other twin beds. All beds are very comfortable with quality duvets, pillows and white linen. The bathroom has an electric shower over the bath.
Our cottage had been a much loved family holiday home for over 40 years and over that time we have always let our cottage to visitors. We have many return visitors who love the cosy atmosphere of the cottage and the magic of Dornoch. The cottage handbook stored on the book case gives comprehensive information about the cottage, areas to visit and some recommendations of where to shop and eat. The bookcase has numerous booklets of the local attractions and a comprehensive selection of OS maps. Visitors are very welcome to borrow these maps. The cottage is in easy walking distance to the local shops, restaurants and pubs. It is within a short walking distance to the prestigious Royal Dornoch Golf Club and the stunning sandy Dornoch beach which is regularly rewarded with the Scottish Beach Award (2018)
Dornoch is the perfect location for a holiday which can include simple or long walks along the beach, touring the Highlands, golf at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club or the many other local golf courses. Dornoch is famed for it's majestic 13th century cathedral and the town centre has many elegant, historical buildings. Loch Fleet, a sea loch, lies just north of Dornoch and is a haven for fauna and flora. It has a variety of species including otters and seals, wild fowl and sea birds, orchids and butterflies. The loch is a large tidal basin with sand dunes, coastal heath and pine woods. The Dornoch area offers varied terrain for cyclists of all standards and cycle hire is available in Dornoch. Visitors can enjoy local hill walking to Struie, Ben Bhraggie or Fyrish and the more challenging Munro climbs up Ben Klibreck , Wyvis or Ben Hope. There are opportunities to fish for trout on the local lochs or salmon on the prestigious Helmsdale or Oykel rivers. From Dornoch visitors can take spectacular Highland trips to so many areas including Durness, Bettyhill, John O Groats and Ullapool. Lovers of single malts will enjoy visiting the many local whisky distilleries.
