A beautiful oasis of tranquility which offer travellers cosy comfort in winter and restorative relaxation in the summer. Applegarth is approached by a private drive off a country lane and past Applegarth church. The tastefully furnished and extensively renovated house is a pretty sandstone Georgian Manse built in 1720 and stands beside the quaint white Applegarth church. This is the original family seat for the Jardine clan, with the 12th century Motte still intact in our beautiful garden. You are in peaceful countryside and yet less than 5 minutes from the M74, taking you North and South and 10 minutes from Lockerbie and it’s railway station. It really could not be more ideal. And the beds! Oh the beds are SO comfortable with crisp cotton sheets and luxuriating electric blankets. Sink into a hot steamy bath or enjoy the drenching of the rain shower. We offer evening meals by prior arrangement. Dinner and breakfast can be enjoyed either in the dining room, the bay window of our elegant drawing room, or if lovely weather, in the garden. Sit on the decking with a glass of wine, enjoying the view and watching the sun go down.

We, Andrew and Kirsteen, love our home and are delighted to be able to share it with travellers. The house is perfect for a luxurious break to your journey and the location ideal for both overnight travellers and Dumfriesshire explorers alike. We have two very friendly dogs and we and they are happy to welcome your equally friendly dogs! Dogs are NOT ALLOWED UPSTAIRS. ,Kirsteen, spent 20 years managing holiday cottages and love to meet different people. I enjoy cooking and beavering in our garden. We are family minded with five grown up children between us.

Applegarth is a tiny hamlet of houses and a church nestled in Annandale. Other than our few neighbours we have flocks of sheep around us cattle too and a wildlife sanctuary with wonderful wild birds on our doorstep. Riverside walks along the pretty River Annan are just steps away. We have a couple of bicycles for you to borrow to explore the network of country lanes The beautiful Grey Mares Tail near Moffat offers a hearty climb in the hills. Moffat itself is a really attractive country town and definitely worth a visit. There are castles like Drumlanrig and Caerlaverock and also the Caerlaverock Wetland Centre to visit and both gin and whisky distilleries within a 20 minute drive. Or explore the beautiful Solway Coast, winding your way round to Sandyhills beach. Go further and discover the Artist's town of Kirkudbright. During the summer there are town galas, in January - a big celebration of our famous local, Robbie Burns with the Great Burns Supper and the Spring Fling in May, when artists open their studios all over Dumfries and Galloway.
