Welcome to Barney’s Retreat Tucked away in the heart of the Cotswolds, this beautiful lakeside lodge is perfect for making lasting memories – from sunset drinks on the deck to lazy outdoor lunches and cosy evenings inside. Whether you're a family, a group of friends, or bringing your dog along too, Barney’s Retreat is a comfortable, year-round escape for up to 6 adults. Lakeside Living Our charming three-bedroom lodge is perched right on the water’s edge, offering peaceful lake views and spacious indoor-outdoor living. The open-plan living space is light-filled and inviting, with comfy sofas, and a selection of books by my favourite author – my mum, Marina Johnson. (We recommend Fat Girl Slim or The Lodger by Joanne Ryan if you're in the mood for a gripping read!) Outside, you'll find a charcoal BBQ and outdoor dining furniture – ideal for alfresco meals overlooking the lake. Residents’ parking is just outside the lodge, with additional spaces available nearby (first come, first served). Sleeping Arrangements Master Bedroom: A peaceful retreat with lake views, a king-size bed, blackout blinds, large wardrobes, a dressing area, and room for a travel cot – perfect for couples or families with young children. The Donkey Double: A small double divan bed with views over greenery. Barney’s Twin: Cosy and light, with two full-size single beds. Child-Friendly Touches We welcome children of all ages, and we’ve included a travel cot (please bring your own bedding), and other must have essentials. The deck is safely gated to give you peace of mind, and we also provide a local guidebook full of family-friendly activities in the area. Dog-Friendly Getaway Dogs are part of the family, and we’re happy to welcome well-behaved pets for a small extra fee. With the Cotswold Water Park and countryside walks on your doorstep, it’s a dog’s dream too – no need to leave anyone behind.

I’m passionate about making your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Whether you’re here for a family holiday, a peaceful escape, or a lakeside adventure, I’m always happy to share local tips and personal recommendations from our guidebook – from the best dog-friendly walks to cosy country pubs and child-friendly days out. You’ll have complete privacy during your stay, but I’m only ever a message away if you need anything. There are also local cafés, pubs, and the Lakeside Brasserie within easy reach, making it simple to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a drink by the water.
