A lovely deceptively spacious cottage in a great location, tucked away and quiet but close enough to all the tourist attractions in the area. A couple of nice pubs just a few minutes away for dinner, perfect. Very comfortable and cosy.

Space in living room and wood burning stove. Plus excellent American style fridge freezer. The bathroom was very warm & toasty with a great shower and loads of hot water. Parking was very easy right outside so packing/ unpacking car wasn't ...

Delightful and very charming Lakeland Cottage which provides deceptively spacious internal accommodation and enjoys a fabulous location approx 1.5 miles from the foot of Lake Windermere. This quaint cottage is typical of its age with low ceilings, exposed beams, deep set windows, super fireplaces and exposed stone walls, all adding to the wonderful cosy, warm and inviting feeling. Presented to a high standard throughout. Occupying a pleasant location off the main road in Backbarrow within the Lake District National Park. The property lies a short drive from the foot of Windermere Lake and provides easy access to the whole of South Lakeland. The nearby facilities of Backbarrow include the Whitewater Hotel Leisure Club, Lakeland Motor Museum, Cafe Ambio (we recommend their roast dinner!), the Anglers Arms, Haverthwaite Steam Railway and more. The Swan hotel is a beautiful 20 minute walk where you will find fine food and great entertainment. The nearest town is the market town of Ulverston, and Cartmel village famous for its race course and sticky toffee pudding!
Backbarrow is a picturesque village within the heart of the Lake District which the River Leven flows through. The river's scenic banks are popular for walks and photography especially around the Newby Bridge area. The village is one of the quieter than some of the more tourist heavy villages making it ideal for a peaceful retreat with beautiful scenery, historic character and easy access to the lake district major attractions. Backbarrow's unique blend of industrial history, natural beauty and proximity to the famous Lake District landmarks makes it a charming village to visit for a tranquil yet immersive experience.
