Welcome to Courtyard Apartment – A Historic Hideaway in Shepton Mallet Step into history at Courtyard Apartment, a unique and character-filled holiday retreat nestled in the heart of Shepton Mallet. Housed in a beautifully preserved 400-year-old market townhouse, our Visit Britain 4-star rated accommodation offers a warm blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Located on the second floor, the apartment is ideal for two guests and features a cosy attic bedroom with twin beds. The apartment is not suitable for those with mobility issues due to the different levels and steep stairs. For additional guests, a sofa bed in the living room provides flexible sleeping arrangements. A dedicated off-road parking space is included for your convenience. Enjoy your morning coffee or a relaxing evening on our lovely roof garden, surrounded by lush greenery — a peaceful spot for alfresco dining in the warmer months. Outdoor furniture is available upon request. With the historic city of Wells just 4 miles away and the mystical town of Glastonbury only 8 miles from your doorstep, Courtyard Apartment is perfectly positioned for exploring the best of Somerset. This townhouse has a rich and colourful past — once home to a cobbler’s shop, a restaurant, and even a fish and chip shop, and now lovingly restored to provide a memorable stay for today’s travellers. Whether you’re visiting for leisure, business, or family, we’re here to ensure your needs are met. Please Note: Due to the property's historic design, access includes a metal staircase and a steep spiral staircase inside the apartment. As such, it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Hello, I’m Ruth, a lifelong resident of Shepton Mallet. I live here with my partner, Dean, we have three grown-up children (who have all flown the nest), and our much-loved rescue dog, Roxy. I love hosting because it gives me the chance to meet wonderful people from all walks of life and help them feel truly at home. Whether it’s sharing local tips, providing a peaceful space to relax, or simply adding thoughtful touches to make someone’s stay special, it brings me real joy to create a welcoming and memorable experience for every guest. In my free time, I enjoy walking in the beautiful countryside that surrounds our town. The Mendip Hills offer countless scenic trails, and to help you explore, I’ve included an Ordnance Survey map in the apartment with some of my favourite local walks. I’m also a passionate teacher of yoga and Tai Chi, running classes in the local community throughout the week. Whether you're here to relax, explore, or reconnect, I hope you’ll find your stay both peaceful and memorable. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I’m always happy to help!
