The old Coastguard Cottage stands watch over the sea at Hill Head, a sentinel of another time. Once, seafaring folk kept vigil here, eyes trained on the horizon for the faint silhouette of smugglers’ boats. They guarded the shore, keeping whiskey and contraband from slipping quietly onto the beach beneath the cover of night. From the cottage windows, the view stretches across the Solent to the Isle of Wight — a living painting that changes with every tide and every light. Boats drift across the water, sails bright against the blue, and sometimes a Spitfire thunders past, its echo mingling with the cry of gulls. The air is rich with salt and freedom — that unmistakable scent of the sea. From the deck, you hear the steady rhythm of the waves, the soft murmur of the tide working against the shingle. There is peace here, and history, and a sense of endless watching — where the sea continues to tell its stories to those who take the time to listen.

Hill head is a small place situated between Portsmouth and Southampton on the shores of the Solent. There is a Chinese take away , a coffee shop, a tea room and the Osborne view pub which is being rebuilt after a big fire last year! There are lovely walks on your doorstep. Stubbington is a 20 minute walk or few minutes drive and here is a bustling village that has coffee shops, butchers, bakers , fruit shop and a large Coop along with several charity chops and hair salons!
