Escape to this beautifully renovated 18th century holiday home occupying a quiet spot in Allendale and a short walk to local shops, cafes and pubs. With off-road parking, Dene Croft Cottage is accessed through a handy porch leading into a bespoke kitchen. Offering a large range cooker, retro fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. This attractive kitchen is fully equipped to prepare meals and enjoy good coffee via the Lavazza coffee pod machine. (Please note - the kitchen has a lower ceiling than the average house) Leading off the kitchen is the living and dining space, open plan with a large arched window providing light and space. Comfortable seating, ambient lighting and a cosy inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove make this the perfect place to relax. A large TV provides digital channels and catch up viewing & there’s a Bluetooth speaker for entertainment. The dining area looks out onto the south facing, sunny courtyard with mature beach hedges providing complete privacy. The open staircase leads off the dining area where the first floor provides a large double bedroom with king size bed and plenty of storage space. The bathroom has an electric shower over bath, basin, WC and heated towel radiator.
Across the road from the property there is access into The Deneholme woodlands with waterfalls in Philip Burn that leads to the River Allen, this lovely local walk through Deneholme Woods brings you back to the village. It's short walk (10-15 minutes) into the centre of Allendale where you will find: A good sized independent Co-op supermarket (from 8.30am to 5.15pm & 7pm, closed Sundays) Allendale Butchers and Farm Shop – located on the market place, a brilliant local butcher. Allendale Forge Studios – lovely café, gallery, arts etc.. Allendale Post Office & Shop with Cashpoint – located on the market place offering Tourist Information. Moonstone Cosmetics – located on the market place - mineral makeup & natural skincare The Lion House – pub located on the market place serving food - check the website for details. The King’s Head – pub located on the market place – serves Sunday lunch every other week – call in to check dates. It's a short drive to Allen Banks & Staward Gorge to explore what you can of the Moralee Tarn and the ancient woodland and also to Hadrian's' Wall and Houseteads Roman Fort where you can walk to the Sycamore Gap. Isscac’s Tea Trail, starting at Issac's Well in Allendale, passes through some of the most remote countryside in England. These are the moors and rivers where the counties of Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria meet - a landscape steeped in history and rich in industrial heritage. The Allen Valleys’ location in Northumberland’s North Pennines AONB is a breath-taking beauty spot offering everything from undiscovered hidden gems, bird watching, eclectic events and festivals such as the New Years Eve Allendale Tar Bar’l celebration.
