Elm Cottage (formerly called 'Bugaboo') is part of a lovely conversion of a traditional building that was first a theatre, then a garage, then a bunkhouse, and is now a cottage! It's cute and convenient. It has three bedrooms and two lounges so that everyone can have their own space. The main area has a fully equipped kitchen, large dining table, and seating area with TV. In another lounge off that room, there is more cosy seating. One staircase goes up to the master (2 pers) bedroom and bathroom and one leads up to the twin room (2 pers) and the bunk/single bed room (3). Both of these also have their own bathrooms. There's a large laundry room so you can do washing, dry wet clothes, and even store bikes (keypad lock). Elm Cottage is within walking distance (15 minutes) of Aberfeldy and there are paths all the way. It's also just below Weem Woods, which is full of pathways to explore and great walks . We're happy to welcome dogs, and there's a large porch area for coats, boots, and drying wet pooches. You'll be within walking distance (3 mins) of the Ailean Chraggan hotel for food and drinks and sometimes live music. You're also right on top of Aberfeldy's own ParkRun, which is a 5K walk/run that happens on Saturdays at 9.30am. Check in is easy as you just get the key from the key box. Aberfeldy with its shops, pubs and restaurants is 10 minutes walk away or an easy drive. If you or one of your party needs flat access to their holiday home, you could consider booking both Elm Cottage and its next door neighbour Larch Cottage. Larch is a one-bedroom cottage with a lovely bedroom and accessible bathroom on the ground floor. Elm has living, cooking and toilet facilities on its ground floor. There is flat access between the two, and between the dedicated parking spots for both cottages and to the cottage front doors. There is outside garden furniture so you can enjoy eating al fresco on the terrace, and a small garden surrounded by low (1m) walls and a gate.
Judy is a fairly recent arrival (well, 2012!) in Aberfeldy and lives in Glen Lyon, which is a wonderful place to visit from Weem for a day of walking and exploring! I love Aberfeldy and am excited to introduce this great place to others. I'm meant to be retired (previously an academic and business writer) but am currently trying to write a novel, at the same time as running holiday letting at home with my husband and since 2026 also in Weem. We use the cottages (Elm and its smaller sister Larch) ourselves when we want to stay nearer to civilisation so we have fully tried and tested the facilities!
Aberfeldy is just the right size to have everything you need, and very pretty, too! Weem is just out of Aberfeldy (ten minutes' walk) but has a walkable pub and restaurant with an outside dining area (or a cosy fire, depending on the season), lots of lovely walks in Weem Woods and further afield, easy access to the River Tay for fantastic beaver-spotting, canoeing, wild water rafting, and more. It's an area loved by walkers and cyclists and has great restaurants, golf within a short walk, its very own cinema, and the famous Dewar's Whisky Distillery with a fantastic distillery tour. It makes a great base for touring in the Southern Highlands, or stay closer to home and soak up the authentic vibes of the town! You might find it a good fit for a visit to the Enchanted Forest in Autumn in Pitlochry, as it's quite convenient for the A9. It's a short drive to beautiful Kenmore, rugged Killin, and beautiful, tranquil Loch Tay.
