Situated close to but separate from a hamlet it provides attractive accommodation in a quiet setting. There are woodland and riverside walks leading down to the shores of the Cromarty Firth. The Cromarty Firth salt marshes and mud flats are home to an internationally important wintering population of tens of thousands of wading birds and wildfowl. There are two RSPB reserves with hides on the Firth, nearby at Nigg Bay (7.5 miles round by road) and Uldale Bay just across the other side of the Firth (24 miles round by road). Loch Fleet nature reserve and trails, home to birds, butterflies and seals is 18 Miles North. The bird colony on the North Sutor, hosts nesting shag, razorbill, Guillemot and Kittiwake. The Moray Firth is home to the world famous colony of bottle nose dolphins.
