Situated within the Walled City of Chester Gamul Place is part of the grounds of what was originally Gamul House. If you visit the The Brewery Tap Public House, just up the steps beside Gamul Place you can see more of the original building and a very impressive fire place. At the time of the Civil War the house was the home of Sir Francis Gamul, a Royalist supporter and colonel of the Town Guard. King Charles I of England stayed at Gamul House between 23–24 September 1645 during the Battle of Rowton Moor. He watched his army being defeated from Charles Tower on the city walls. 5 minutes walk from the cottage. The cottage itself is a grade II English heritage listed building. As you'll see in the pictures there's a lovely lounge / seating area, separate kitchen and downstairs bathroom - which is traditional for this period of property. Upstairs are two double bedrooms. Outside you'll find a private rear garden accessible directly from the rear yard of the cottage and a quiet courtyard to the front. You'll find the city centre cottage warm, cosy and comfortable and unbelievably quiet considering its location.

As a seasoned host my aim is to make your stay at Gamul Place as enjoyable as possible. If I can be of any assistance before or during your stay I'll be fully contactable. There's a welcome pack in the cottage that offers direction to supermarkets and eating out advise, but if you require more - please do ask :)

Chester is a city in northwest England, founded as a Roman fortress in the 1st century A.D. It's known for its extensive Roman walls made of local red sandstone. In the old city, the Rows is a shopping district distinguished by 2-level covered arcades and Tudor-style half-timber buildings. A Roman amphitheatre, with ongoing excavations, lies just outside the old city's walls. Modern Chester is a bustling city with dozens of great bars, restaurants, museums and activities for all the family.
