Set in the tranquil foothills of the Cheviots and on the edge of Northumberland National Park, Gypsy Palace is a beautiful and unique detached self catering holiday cottage with a fascinating history. Kirk Yetholm, a small conservation village set in the Scottish Borders, was regarded as the home of the gypsies of Scotland and Northern England for over 300 years and Gypsy Palace is famous the world over as the home of the Gypsy Kings and Queens and is known as the ‘Smallest Palace in the world’. Gypsy Palace has been thoughtfully furnished and fully equipped to a high standard while retaining its unique, charismatic charm. With its log burning stove, well equipped kitchen and bathroom and relaxing summer house, combined with magnificent views and set in its own mature garden, Gypsy Palace makes an idyllic year round holiday retreat, sleeping up to three adults plus one child.

We (Tracey & Steve) love living in the Scottish Borders and be both run our own businesses here. Its incredibly quiet here compared to much of the UK and love walking on the near deserted beaches or exploring the moors and forests nearby.

This is perfect walking country - we are right on the Pennine Way. In fact there is a wonderful walk straight from the door of the cottage: you simply turn right from the cottage and within a few minutes and as the road climbs, the views get better and better. Within 10 minutes, you really feel as though you are in another world with the most stunning views over the Cheviot Hills. Of course, dogs are welcome to our cottage. While we have a flatscreen TV with Freeview, Wi-Fi and a Bose Ipod dock, most people come to Gyspy Palace for the peace and quiet and to simply get away from the modern world. Its very quiet indeed and its the perfect place in which to relax. We have our own driveway for parking but you can also park on the street - there's next-to-no traffic here. In the village, we have a very good pub which serves great food - its a 5 minute walk away. A 2 minute drive (15 minute walk) takes you into the next village, Town Yetholm, where you'll find a general store, post office, butcher and petrol station. A 15 minute drive and you're in Kelso, our nearest larger town, complete with an old abbey, cobbled streets and a good collection of restaurants, cafes and shops.
