Nestled in the quiet village of Elgol, Hillside house offers tranquil get away with spectacular views and endless activities. The small scattered hamlet of Elgol lies on the shores of Loch Scavaig on the south coast of Isle of Skye. Situated 14 miles from Broadford at the tip of the Strathaird peninsula, the village is reached by a dramatic road through the Red Cuillins and Strath Suardal with superb views passing the ruined Cill Chriosd and its fascinating and superbly located graveyard. You can take a boat from Elgol across Loch Scavaig to the entrance of Loch Coruisk (meaning ‘cauldron of water’) - a glacial loch nearly 2 miles long but only a couple of hundred yards wide, lying in the shadow of the highest peaks of the Black Cuillin. During certain months seals will be sunbathing on the rocks as you sail past. Enjoy a variety of hikes from Elgol along the coast or into both the Red and Black Cuillins. Or if you would prefer a more relaxed approach, enjoy an ice-cream at the beach or explore loch Slapin by kayak or even have a swim. After a day of exploring relax at hillside house enjoying the views of the small isles, specifically the Isle of Rum or watch out for wandering deer in the nearby fields. *Hillside House is a 3 stay minimum from November until March. The rest of the year is Saturday to Saturday stays only.
