Local Places of interest Wilton House and Gardens - Residence of the 18th Earl of Pembroke, the house has many art treasures. There are beautiful gardens to explore with a large adventure playground. Salisbury Cathedral - The cathedral has the highest spire in Britain and holds an original copy of the Magna Carta. Climb 332 steps through the roof spaces to the foot of the spire, 225 feet above ground level, for breathtaking views. Stonehenge - The world heritage site of Stonehenge houses the most intriguing and remarkable monument in the British Isles providing a mysterious fascination as old as the great temples and pyramids of Egypt. Old Sarum - Originally an Iron Age hill-fort, later occupied by Romans and Saxons and finally Normans who built the castle and cathedral. The cathedral was moved to its present site in the 13th century. Stourhead - An outstanding 18th Century landscape with something to offer, whatever the season. Specimen trees, spring bulbs. Classical and Gothic buildings are set against wooded slopes.
