Dunkeld is a beautiful Scottish village nestled in the Perthshire countryside and was named the best place to live in Scotland, by The Sunday Times in 2023. Dunkeld was the Pictish capital of Scotland and the majestic Dunkeld cathedral is still partly used as the parish church. The Hermitage, a National Trust site, is a famous forest walk. As you walk, you can view the stunning Black Linn waterfall from the folly of Ossian’s Hall and continue to Rumbling Bridge. Birnam Oak, which was mentioned by Shakespeare in Macbeth, is nearby and also the Beatrix Potters Gardens. You can see a pair of breeding Ospreys at Loch of the Lowes wildlife reserve. Dunkeld is famous for mountain biking, fishing, climbing and hill walking. The village has a diverse range of eateries including an award winning delicatessen/tapas restaurant & the fish & chip restaurant. If you wish to self cater, you can buy a vast array of lovely breads, cakes and sandwiches from the Aran Bakery & Livvies’s and locally sourced meat, fruit, vegetables and pies from Dunkeld Butchers. You can pop into Dunkeld Whisky Box, which has a wide range of whisky and other spirits. They have regular tastings. The smallest whisky distillery in Scotland, Edradour, is nearby, you can also visit Blair Atholl distillery & Glen Turret distillery. House of Bruar, also known as the “Harrods of the North”, is a 30 minute drive. The bustling city of Perth is a 20 minute drive. The local train station is a 10 minute walk from the apartments and there is a bus stop opposite, should you wish to get a bus to Aberfeldy or Perth (route 23 run by Stagecoach).
